How many are considering a GTR after last nights TopGear?

Just wondering.

I know there has been a lot of talk about the GTR of late, but how many are now seriously considering a change after last nights TopGear?

I have come from a stage 1 R33 Skyline GTR (V-Spec) to the RS4, and honestly wasn't considering it as a serious contender until last night. Still not sure if I'll sway back again before they start hitting the streets (or once I see one in the flesh), but at the moment they look pretty impressive.

Not taking anything from the GTR's as I love them (all variants), but I would have felt like a step backwards from the quality of the RS4.

I did actually go looking at Aston Martins last night (the new model launch), but found myself checking out the GTR this morning online.

Got to say that was one spec I was toying with, but as you're paying for the Black paint, grey wheels and red stitching, it seemed a shame to then pay another £1400 to not have the Black paint you just paid extra for.

Did you spec it at a dealers? did they get around this for you?

Never ever been a fan of jap cars.Crap styling, plasticy poorly built interiors etc etc. The whole evo.scooby rally jacket baseball cap covered in stickers and flappy mudflaps eve the old skylines etc.

HOWEVER,
This thing looks in a different league. It looks to be the new benchmark in perfomance and handling.I think the gemans are going to have to look at all options available to compete with the performance!! at least( ALTHOUGH PROBABLY NOT THE QUALTY )
And for 50 odd k! Bargain of the century. If it is as god as they say(speed and hanling) nothing will be good enough after driving it.
Might be tempted after my beloved goes the journey one day.

Performance is awesome, but come on, Jap car versus German car for quality and just think, the Nissan will be so heavily modded by everyone, watch the price just tumble & tumble. If I was going to buy one, I'd wait for the second hand market and even then it'll been hard to find a car that hasn't been touched.

Would have to drive one before ordering, my RS4 is going to take some beating, owned an Evo V1 for 3 years, certainly not as good a car to drive everyday as RS4

TBH German quality isn't as it used to be, so I personally think thats an unfair comment. And funnily enough Jap cars are always more reliable than Germans.....funny that. I think people need to get over this!

Tuning won't be as extreme as previous models, due to the design of the engine. Usual exhaust/cat, and chip upgrades, so far

Very true that, I have a mate in the RAC, and when I asked him what kind of cars he sees breaking down most frequently, it might surprise you to find it's not a French or Korean manufacturer, but a German one...........namely Porsche!!

Perhaps I'm biased as I also have one on order, but I have sat in a GT-R and been taken for a drive in one in HK. It has absolutely NOTHING to be jealous about compared to my previous RS4/M3 when it comes to exterior/interior quality. The entire thing looks and feels as though it has been put together in a sterile laboratory rather than a factory. The fit and finish is very similar to several porsches I've had the pleasure of driving (997 turbo/997 GT3). With regard to the performance....well just watch the top gear episodes.

It really is the bargain of the century. Residuals will hold for at least 2 years given that if you were to order one now, you won't get it until late 2010. The V-spec won't change this as it will be in a different price bracket altogether...closer to £70k.

Regarding the modding scene, I can't see them being heavily modded. Usual ECU remaps/exhausts etc will be all most people will do (as per RS4) as more than this is unnecessary/not needed. Don't forget the previous GT-R skylines were governed by the Japanese gents agreement to limit power to 276/280 bhp hence the need to mod to keep up with european competition. This will no longer be necessary.

The black paint is not an extra cost - its the anthracite wheels and two-tone interior. I ordered mine back in March hence the early delivery date and at that stage Ultimate silver was a no-cost option. If you ordered after June, you now have to pay an extra £1400 for silver
