Life after your RS4

Happen to notice the other day that there are alot of ex M3 owners with RS4's. As one myself it made me think, when it comes to change over time what would I replace my RS4 with. Revert back to M3's - feel like I've been there done that, go for a 911 carrera 4s -while the kids will fit in it, see what Mercs are available or simpley wait for Audi's next RS4. Like most people I normally have a set idea months in advance, but this time I am stumped, I really don't know what to go for.

It would make an interesting poll: What will you replace your RS4 with?

If we could drag a short list together of suspects I can create a poll.

I was thinking about this too. I toy'd with a Porsche C2S but not very practicle so I have decided to wait until 2011 when the new RS4 is released. Or so I'm told.
I too am an ole M3 owner and feel the same as in been there do that..

I also like the new Skyline GT-R and the C55 Merc.

Tough one...

Been thinking about new RS4 when its out, or even the R8

other makes, was thinking about a Merc or even the new M3 as i have took a liking to them, did not like them when they first came out but the m3 has grown on me

The RS4 is here for atleast 2 years so im not really worried about it TBH

i like the look of the m3 saloon just couldn't justify 50k for it. Was out in the new rs6 this week and couldn't help but think this would make a great 2nd hand car in 2 years time when they've taken a huge hit!

I took a new M3 out on Thursday and would certainly not sell the RS4 for one - there would be no point. Performance is too close to notice any real difference between the two (at least with the sales woman next to me!) but I was really disappointed with the interior of the M3. Compared to my RS with c/f trim it just felt cheap inside. I also couldn't understand why there is near enough an inch gap between the dash and door panels even when the door is shut! All in all I would lose money buying a very similar car with a worse interior!

I am tempted by a GT-R mind :bash:

I think when you get down to it,there isnt that much to choose from, as a good replacement. It also, more than ever now, boils down to how much you are prepared to loose on a car, with the economy etc.All cars seem to be dropping bombs at the moment.Ive heard of big discounts on M3s,which is, i suppose good right now,but it just shows that they are not shifting as well as BMW hoped.Who reallyknows when the new RS4 will land.A C63 Merc, might fit the bill, but again, how will a massive engined car be perceived in the near future with fuel prices, residual wise?.Im actually going down for the moment, and have ordered a new TTS,which has surprised me no end after an all day test drive. As much fun as almost anything out there, with quality and character. It all comes down to personal choice and circumstance, and i often wish i wasnt interested in cars at all,it would be far easier.I love to play snooker, and for that i only need a thin bit of wood,a small cube of dust, and 20p for the light  .Regards, SIMON. :)

My wife was asking me to trade down (I suggested she trade up!) to a black TTS with a two tone black/white leather interior.

To be fair, it looked the poochs privates but I have a rule....which has so far never been broken....which means that my next car must always have more horsepower than the outgoing one....

Going to a C6 RS6 post B7 is going to make things tricky in the future...

I sold my car 2 weeks ago and I have decided to lay low with fast cars for a bit, we have an x5 and we are getting a 6 month old cooper s to knock around in. I wanted a 911 but just not prepared to loose upto 30k in 2 years plus too many around and not as exclusive as the rs4. TBH I will probably get a track day car and just get in the mind set of using a daily driver as just that.

I've just sold mine too :(

was a combination of quite a few reasons but ultimately it came down to a Cayman S test drive when I was at a loose end one afternoon and a sudden realisation that, having had a Mk V R32 before the RS4, I wanted something completely different for a while

I do fear slightly for cars like the RS4/ M3/ C63 though as imo due to spiraling running costs we may see a more polarised car market - sports cars and non sports cars - it's not that hard for example to get near m3 pace with a chipped 335d and 35-45 mpg into the bargain...

oh by the way if there is anyone out there looking for an RS4 and has seen the black saloon at Leeds Audi on for £48,850 PM me and I'll tell you what they paid for it - they have got a RIDICULOUS mark up on it

Im considering changing out - but only because i do alot of outdoor stuff and with 2 kids am slowly trashing my Audi.

Im consideirng a Rangey, for an LPG conversion, or a truck based set of wheels so I can get it wet, sling my salty kayak or muddy bikes on the back without fear of damaging the paint/leather/trim.

(i came back from the New Forest a few weeks ago with 3 MTB's on a bike rack on the back of my Avant - should have seen the looks i got from people along the motorway!!! (Even worse, I had to park up in a cornfield for a 10M road race - and thought the car was going to catch fire).

Olif-h, you got the Cayman yet? I can guarantee it will be a comletely differernt experience to the RS4.

I am in an even bigger dilema in that I've got an RS4 (for the family) and a Cayman S for me, and I can't think what to replace either with. R8s and 911s just aren't THAT much better cars than the CS to warrant the huge uplift from one to the other, and as you all realise, there is little in the family-lugging arena quite like the RS4. What to do?
