Sprint Blue Paint

Here's a con. I've got a small stone chip on the front skirt so I thought I would buy a small touch-up from Audi (normally 2 small containers with a brush for colour and laquer about £5), which is enough to do 50-100 chips. Anyway because Sprint Blue is apparantly a 'lifestyle' colour, Audi only supply as a spray can for £12. I'll have to spray the paint into a small container and use a brush and probably there's only enough paint to cover 3 chips. Who in Audi thinks that is a good idea? Nobody in their right mind is going to touch up stone chips on their pride and joy with a spray can, so let's charge a premium for the paint.

Might be better off ringing around your local Audi bodyshops and seeing if anyone is doing a sprint blue car and get a small sample...!

A lot of Audi colours are like this, it's a real PITA.
I current have 99% unused cans of Sprint Blue, Aquamarine Blue, and Caribbean Blue :audibash:

I've been meaning to put up a post about this for a while:

http://drcolorchip.com/

This stuff is brilliant! I've used it to great success, as has loads of others on other forums. I will do a full post on it tomorrow but in the meantime.....

Does everyone suffer from loads of stone chips on their RS4 or is it just me?

I have had quite a few Audis and this one seems to suffer from stone chips so much more.

I have particular problems around the front wings and the rear arches. It looks like I've driven passed a road gritter, a very mild rubbing compound gets rid (do this occasionally) but it is unsightly

Is it just sprint blue, is it just me or is it all RS4's. Nice link though I think a group buy could be a good idea

Thanks,

Thanks,
After previously owning two Subaru's, I think Audi paint is bullet proof (well at least Phantom Black!)

On the way back from London in February (when the heavy snow was around) I came across a Gritter on the M4 doing 30mph in the middle lane. After sitting back for 10 mins I realised I had to get past, so decided to blast past as quickly as possible.

The sound as I got into the 'spray zone' felt like what I imagine being stoned would be like (not wacky backy stoned!) and I really did think I would need a front respray as a result. To make matters worse I had only just calmed down from the first 'attack' when I came across another Gritter 5 miles down the road so had to go through it all over again.

I didn't bear to look until I got home so looked the next morning to find a completely grey car, once washed down to my joy and amazement I didn't pick up one battle scare :D

I really can recommend Dr. Colourchip. Worked a treat with me and loads of other users on other forums.

Not sure if this helps, but i was given a pot of Sprint Blue paint by my dealer when i bought my RS4.

It's the size of a regular paint tester pot & the lid holds a nice brush similar in size to a nail varnich brush.

The colour match is very good although of course not perfect. When we get some nice weather i'm going to try it out properly on some stone chips.

Simon - Yes, it's only available in America as far as I know..

The problem with standard Audi touch up paint is you will almost always fail to get it smooth blend with the paint and end up with an unsightly blob.

The 'magic formula' with Dr. Colourchip allow you to rub over the paint removing all excess other than in the chip. With a bit of time and patients you can make it pretty much disappear.

If anyone with a Phantom Black car near Cardiff needs a demo give me a shout, I have loads left.
