MY CAR IS A JUNE 2007 AND HAD THE OIL CHANGED @ APPROX 10,000 MILES - THE CAR HAS DONE 13,000 MILES AND ON THE CAR COMPUTER, IT'S SAYING A SERVICE IS STILL NOT REQUIRED FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 14,000 MILES...I SPOKE TO AUDI AND THEY SAY THAT IS CORRECT AND NO PROBS..

MY QUESTION: WHY ARE SOME PEOPLE ON HERE HAVING A FIRST SERVICE @ 15,000 MILES?

THANKS

HOWARD

Simple,it all depends on how you drive it

Hmmm, I don't take it that easy, so some of the guys on here must be really stretching their cars or lots of track days maybe.

Audi variable service intervals
Depends on driving conditions and driving style

I would definitely not wait another 14k miles for you to have an oil change. Whatever the dynamic service schedule said, I always changed oil every 5-6k miles and I switched to fixed service schedule. I cannot see how a dynamic schedule is in any way beneficial for a car as highly strung as an RS4.

No, I intend to Oil change every 10,000 miles, it's just the service side of things although I'll have a annual check every winter until the Next RS4 comes along.

I changed my oil at 6 and 12K miles, and mines advising of a service in 600 miles - currently at 16500 miles approx.

I try not to drive it too hard - the grin is so big its starting to hurt :-)

It isn't just how hard you drive it - a lot of short journeys with the oil not getting up to temp or a lot of town driving with heavy wear on the components etc will provoke a shorter service interval.

17100 miles and first service due in 500miles. I do a lot of town driving but I sometimes get up to 36mph on the motorway! Joking apart my trip comp. says that I've averaged 18mph in the last 4000miles - next car's a Nissan Micra and several holidays a year in the Caribean with the money I've saved.

A related question - I had mine serviced a couple of weeks ago and there's now nothing in the "next service" display - just "-:--" . Is this normal just after it's been reset?

pretty sure i read something about that in the manual and said it takes a wee while to work out how long before the next service :)

That's normal with all Audis on AVS - it's takes about 500 miles to work out a "sensible" number to display, so it just shows "---" until then.

Length of trips definitely as important as the way you drive. I had a fair number of 300 - 400 miles per day a lot of them on A road dual carriageways etc (try to avoid motorways) and for the first time ever in an Audi did the full 19000 miles
