My iPod Integration

I have come to realise that getting a decent iPod integration with an RS4 can be somewhat of an issue, so I thought I'd share my install.

I opted for the Harman Kardon, and am very happy with it.

I positioned the contoller on top of the ashtray as this is never used. No drilling required either.

Sound quality is 9 out of 10 and it is very easy to use...

looks like a great bit of kit, but i think it has ruined the "Look" of the dash IMO....however if its a must then so be it, i have the ipod adaptor and it does drive me bloody nuts, 30gbs of tracks through one CD slot...not good!

TBH i prefer to use the SD cards!

Anyone tested the new Panasonic SD mem cards 16Gb at 20Mb/sec, yet to try them in the car but currently have 2 x 8Gb cards with no probs so should work fine

i thought that the units can only read up to a MAX off 2GB per card?

Sorry but I don't like seeing bits stuck on the dashboard (or anywhere else) because it looks just that - stuck on as an afterthought. The wire coming from the unit being squashed through the side of the RNS-E head unit would drive me nuts. I would have at least taken the cable through the side of the glove box and into the back of the unit, you still wouldn't have needed to drill any holes.

Having said that, I did look at this unit and I liked it and I still haven't dismissed it but to be honest, I think the install could have been a lot neater especially on a car such as this - sorry.

would be better hidden in the glove box maybe...as that is where the iPod would normally sit!

Would you still be able to see it if you repositioned the unit in the little cubby hole in the bottom part of the dash to the right hand side of the steering wheel? Just a thought.

I have an iPod interface that jacks into the TV out and works really well. also the only cable is in the glove box out the way. That is if yr 'pod is running on winbugger which mine isnt!!! Why would you make an iPod interface that won't work on an Apple sync'd iPod!!! Do'h !!

As for the as cards I tried using sandisk 4gb ultras and had all sorts of problems and as for 8gb ultra 4's forget it! Now using standard 2gb cards and all works really well even formated to my Mac!

Nope that's not the limit - the RNS-E will read SD cards ONLY (and NOT SDHC cards).

Since SD cards are available in sizes up to and including 4GB - that's the limit.

Since MikeD mentions 16GB cards they MUST be SDHC - and will definitely NOT work in the RNS-E.

That would look fantastic if it was invisible.

Have to say I think it looks awful! Like something you would see in a mini cab. I'm sure it's a great bit of kit but just couldn't live with the look of it! Shame........
