IS-F vs RS4 shootout from Webrides TV

Post by Ozrs4 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 1:44 pm

Hi guys, saw this link from RS6 forum. Check it out.

And this was their review when RS4 was released:

I still think the RS4 is the gold standard for others to follow.

Very interesting, I just don't think the IS has that German feel about it, obviously it's not german but you know what I mean. I know it's a quality bit of kit but somethings missing for me.....
Current car..... hmmmmm????
RS4 B7 Gone
RS6 C5 Gone
M3 E46 smg Gone

Any car that has to put 3 extra exhausts on there just for looks is LAME.

The only thing about Lexus is Audi could learn from the level of service!

Totally agree both re the fake exhaust pipes...yuk.
And Lexus definitely got their customer service spot on in Australia and all these european brands can learn from them.

So reaslly it depends on who reviews the two cars. The differences are so minute between the two in slalom speed etc, however I have to say I was surprised with them recording 0-60 in 4.3 for the RS4 and 4.8 for the IS-F

RS4, C63, M3 or IS-F, you're going to have a great car and it'll be down to driver ability to see who wins.

Yea in the first review the guy was some yank tank RWD racer. What do you expect. He knows it better.
Put a World Rally Champion in both or someone who knows AWD better and they would probably pick the RS4.

TOO close to call, the Lexus will be less practical in real terms, the boot space is crap and the rear seats remain upright, so RS4 wins, and in the UK wet weather a clear winner. JMO.

the US RS4 is about 100kg heavier than the Euro RS4 - not sure why as it is not down to the US driver apparently ;)

is the IS-F similarly hampered?

good to see so many good cars in this class now, although personally I think the IS-F is pug ugly and the exhausts look crap even if there were real, so not for me although I am sure it would be better built than an M3 or RS4 and certainly the AMG

Having driven the Lexus and New M3,and the AMG 63, also owning the RS4.

The AMG in dry conditions is more fun and much quicker than all the others, take into account the age of the RS4 and it's still the best value car out of them all IMO. :)

RS4 rapes the IS-F. The germans will always do it better in this class of vehicle because they've been doing it for so long. BMW M division is where it was born and now AUDI have finally awoken from their deep slumber and produced an absolute ball breaker, frickin awseome weapon.
