GruppeM just released ram-air system for B7 RS4

Post by alex_123_fra » Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:21 pm

For all those interested, I received this email from GruppeM Japan today. They have finally finished the development of their ram air system for the B7 RS4.

I don't have an RS4 any longer so won't be buying this but I've always felt that GruppeM products were of the highest quality and functionality. This may well complement the miltek nicely. It is bound to sound good even if the gains aren't massive.

Looks good. I'd be up for a punt.

Any additional info? what's the UK price & do they have a UK distributor/fitting service?

From my CTR/Evo/Porsche days, these are made to order so it can take a while to deliver. A group buy would certainly help.

They are not cheap but that is reflected in the unbelievable quality of their products. I don't know the exact price for this kit (there is a japanese price there). I remember Evo/CTR/Porsche Ram air/CAIs from gruppeM are quite often nearly twice the price of competitors. Seeing as there isn't much out there for the B7 RS4, this may be a good option though.

As far as fitting, it would be simple enough for one to do it themselves or take it to a reputable tuner (e.g. MRC, DMS etc) who would likely not charge any more than 1 hour's labour for something like this.

Forgot to say GruppeM Europe have a website (if you do a google search) and european orders are likely best placed through their europe division.

For the best gains, it would be worth remapping with the improved airflow taken into account.

Looks nice, but 138,000 JPY is just under £800, so I imagine it's more like £1,200 min over here

Is it me, or does that sound expensive for the parts pictured?

That does sound very expensive Dom. I know that all their intakes are high quality carbon fibre constructions but that is taking the mick. I'd ring gruppeM europe to get a confirmed european price. Tel: 0207 233 2952

Lovely bit of kit. Perhaps you can get a reasonable discount for a big group buy of 10-20 units ?

What is the the tiny K&N filter that sticks out of the side for ?

26.6 Nm? Seriously!

Judging by it's design i would not be surprised if it actually restricted airflow at higher 3 figure speeds.
The original airbox has an additional opening to allow the extra air required at such speeds, whivh that does not.

I can't actually spot it on the engine bay pic although it is on the component picture. They're normally used as oil breathers on the rocker covers however there is only one and being a V8 doesn't add up so I think in this situation it could be to aid in the airflow of the inlet chamber to stop the filter trying to implode/twist

Evo-s in Luton are a distributor and they quoted £969 incl VAT and duty! Not cheap by any means. You pays your money ....... I only wish I'd heard of it before I had my re-map as I'm sure it will affect the figures.
