I think the first indication is a "Knocking" from the shocks, particlarly when cold, anyone.

Mine were leaking, but i saw no external evidence i.e. oil on the drive etc.
Had the knocking, car went in for service & i asked them to check the shocks & the dealer spotted both front shocks were leaking. They replaced these & the valve thingies.

RAe elaking shocks a product of DRC. I thought DRC was the electric gubbins that control the system. Is it just that the shocks are badly designed?

Audi make a lot of noise about DRC being purely mechanical - there is NO electronics/electrics associated with DRC.

25000km at the clock, i had a track day in the afternoon at Monza, DRC is completely gone, front shocks are leacking,
lot of dive and shaking,under-steering and metallic noises come the front of the car...4 seconds more at lap than when the car was new, i'm really disappointed...

Had the front wheels off to replace the front pads yesterday. Around the top of the shocks there was oily residue. It was prominent around the top of the shock body, and also on the rubber sleeve that pushes into the shock mount.
There is no knocking from the suspension, though.
Is this oily mess definitely going to be leaky shocks? Can't see anywhere else any oil could be coming from under there. The whole rest of the wheel-well and suspenion components were bone-dry, caked in mud.
Car is going in for its first service in the next 2 weeks. I'll get them to take a look at them.

Went through the 3 months of the road DRC saga with my Rs6 avant 3 or 4 years ago. Swore that was the end of German cr*p engineering for me. Made a mistake 18 months ago and bought a new Rs4 avant. 20,000 miles in it and a few weeks ago felt the same handling quirks as I had felt on the Rs6. Sold it last week and for me that is the end with Audi. I would warn you all to keep a sharp eye on you handling and to really put the pressure on your dealers to fully sort out under warrranty the fault and then sell the thing. Get onto Rs6.com and check out the forums for DRC problems and you will see that it all happend a few years ago to us ex RS6 owners.

i think this is the end with Audi for me too. too many troubles
in the order: under-powered than claimed, clutch, brakes, DRC... is this an RS car ? is it possible to use it on the tracks or it's only a beautiful car to show at friends ? seems an old Ferrari, 1 day to enjoy with it and 2 weeks to reset the damages. this is not my car. i see a new m3 in my future

If the new M3 is anything like as troublesome as the outgoing model, expect a few bottom end engine problems and a staggeringly expensive extended warranty.
At the end of the day, many high performance cars have significant flaws. Porsche has RMS/Engine issues, Merc AMG - Electrical faults, Audi RS - DRC failures, BMW M - Engine problems etc etc

Problems with my car so far:
New clutch at approx 1500 miles
New clutch at approx 2000 miles
Leaking front shocks at approx 4500 miles
(All above warranty claims)
Now, loudly creaking driver's bucket seat. Audi "build quality" my arse.
Running out of patience and on the verge of trading in. Will not be another Audi, that's for sure.
