Advice required before dealer abuse !!

Post by mattyh » Sun Mar 02, 2008 10:28 am

Hi guys, my car car has come back from the dealer two days ago, car had been recovered due to quite a substantial oil leak, it turned out to be the oil cooler pipes had rubbed together causing one to leak, they replaced both pipes and the oil cooler. Last night the oil level lamp came on, i checked the oil and it is only just on the bottom of the dipstick, would i be correct in saying that to change the above parts they would have had to drop the engine oil? if so who do i get in touch with to complain, to let a car leave a workshop with hardly any oil in and only covered 70 miles since is inexcusable. Thanks in advance.

Is it not easier to call them up and explain that the oil is low after the warranty work and could they either top it up or send you a litre.
Then chill with a joint or two. :)

As the oil only passes round these parts when the engine is running, I dont think they would have drained the oil first, but a good mechanic would have checked the level after such a major leak, so fair to give them the opertunity to correct it first before shooting from the hip.

Thanks guys, just went out and purchased some oil and topped it up, had chance to chill and will give the dealer a chance to redeem themselves tommorow and refund the price of the oil, was just a bit wound up this morning as only had the car 3weeks and did,nt expect to top the oil up 2 days after returning from the dealer, like you said a good mechanic would have done such a simple check,
