TIME TO SELL

Post by SimonG » Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:30 pm

I regularly read the forums and have found them useful both when buying my car and running it- thanks. What it has also shown me is that it is time to sell it. I do not use it enough, when I do it is on a motorway and moreover reading some of your commentary around using the performance - I can safely say this never happens- it seems a waste
My question is How Much?
56 RS4 Avant- Black
Tech Pack
Recaros not buckets
Daytime and coming home lights, boot mat,
2 owners (incl me) serviced in Sept with new tyres. Peterborough Audi
Basically an excellent standard car.

You don't mention the mileage, but I would think around £45k would be about right.

Black book see's your car at £40k to the trade, you could get a couple of grand more private but do you really want untold numpties around your house.

I just had mine valued and was being offered around 41k.
It was £54,600 new (march 07) and has 12k on the clock and im the only owner. At that price it's not really worth me selling so i will run it as a second car when my other one comes.

I got a great price for mine, enthusiast bought it.
Now is a very bad time to sell, market low and money tight, if you can find a good private buyer it would be great, if not stealers will rip you a new arse.
PS) mine never got worked hard "To many cameras". :?

Hi Simon,

It is easier to get a good price for your car if you part ex. It requires quite a bit of negotiation and standing your ground, which helped me.

Not quite the same circumstances as I bought mine as an approved used car, but I lost very little to what I paid for it and lets just say I got back more than what some people are saying yours is worth (i.e. more than 40k)...mine being a Mar '06 saloon with almost twice the miles of yours. I also negotiated quite a discount on the car I was buying.

I've now seen my old car advertised on the audi approved site for about the same as what it was when it had 14k miles in May '07, just prior to me buying it.

RS4s are good news at the mo, they are holding their value as the engines are going into the R8s - granted the market is tight at this pricing point though!!

Hmmmm my car is 3 months old with just under 3k on the clock, fully loaded and pushing 53k new. My dealer offered me 43k last week if I wanted to trade it back. that's 3k a month loss

However I agree that I think it would still be worth 43k in another 6 or 9 months so hopefully when the RS5 comes around I'll get a better offer for a trade in :D
Current car..... hmmmmm????

I'm seriously considering bailing out of mine at the moment, i have been offered £46k for mine, i am considering a 535d M Sport instead, a couple of friends of mine have had them with the DMS re-map and they swear by them!!! An all round performer they tick a lot of boxes This is coming from people that have owned numerous cars inc Ferrari ,Lambos, Astons etc...
A slight down grade in my opinion but at least the fuel bills will be reduced!!!
