Hi Guys,

I have just bought a couple of SD cards and have been loading various music files on to it. Question. I have loaded a number of files on each containing say 12 to 20 tracks. however when I put it in the car I can only see the first files tracks. but if I listen to the last track it then moves to the next file. as it would if you listened to the last track on CD 2 it would then go to the first track on CD3. Is there anyway of switching between the files or do I have to create 1 huge file with all the tracks in it and then scroll through hundreds of songs to find the one I want???

Any help would be great.

Create a directlory structure similiar to what you would on your PC. then use forward/back and scrolling etc to navigate.

Exactly.

In the root directory create a folder for each album, and put the files for that album into it's own folder.

The RETURN key on the RNS-E takes you up the directory structure - very useful and not documented!

I use a directory structure like this:

/artist1/album1
/artist1/album2
/artist2/album1

And then I put playlist files (.m3u) in the root directory. Not only does this give me complete control of the order in which files are played, but also allows me to customise what is shown in the DIS - so I can make the first 8 characters different for each track without having to rename the tracks!

Yep follow what Rod says, file format in MP3 and you will be able to see all Albums and then all tracks.

I will give that a go and let you know how i get on.

I have followed this advice and found that I can control the order in which the individual tracks are viewed and played. However the folders (Albums) do not display on the RNSE in the order that I created when loading on my PC.

Does anyone know how to control the order in which the folders (Albums)are displayed?

Took me ages to figure out the RETURN function allowed you to go back up the tree!

As far as I can tell it's alphabetical?

It is and, thats all you can do, it comes off the PC in that Alphabetical list it can't be altered in any way.

Mine display (on both car and PC) and play in the same order.

I note the 2008 Nav DVD has a further update to allow more songs on the SD card or something. I would presume the 2007 DVD did the same over the 2006 DVD. If you are not running the 2007 DVD, I would upgrade.

That's still a rumour and yet to be confirmed.

I have order a 2008 DVD so will let you know when it arrives what the differences are over 2007. In fact I'll take screen dumps of 2007 vs 2008 Nav screens. I will upgrade mine and leave the wifes car runnign 2007 until I have taken all screen dumps.

would be interested in benefits too - does a new set of DVDs cost something stupid like £100+

Nope, I have bought 2 copies of Western Europe DVD from a guy in belgium for 70EURO's total.
