Bumper Colour

Hi, I'm a regular reader of this forum, picked up lots of interesting bits and pieces about my car, just got a quick question.....

I have a daytona grey saloon and in certain lights (usually when its just starting to get dark / dusky) the rear bumper appears to be a slightly darker shade of grey than the other panels. I've had the car from new so I know its not had any accident repairs etc.

Wondered if anyone else had noticed this or its just me?

Cheers

It can be a common sight and has to do with the absorption of plastic and metal of paint and its colour. On the RS4 however it isn't half as noticable as on the Ford ASBO for example, they have shocking colour contrasting between body panels and bumpers!

Plastic causes the paint particles to sit differently from metal panels, have a look round a dealership and you would swear all the silver and grey cars have had the bumpers painted. We recently had a problem with a customer with a Ford, who complained the colour of her replacement bumper was wrong, and refused to accept her car back. As the bumpers come painted from the factory there was little we could do.
