Car is 4,000 miles on the clock, registered July 2007 and now locked up at dealer having had an engine warning light come (amber EPC light on dash but it started flashing) on last night and had to be "rescued" by Audi Assist. Waiting for Technician at Dealership to call back with an update, following diagnostic test. Car run on Shell V-Power and no other running issues. Anyone else had a similar experience ?

Ys, several. Turned out to be numerous things at different times.

Failed coilpacks, corroded ECU terminals...

My EPC light came on a couple of weeks ago (4000 miles) but didn't flash though. Turned out to be the Potentiometer on the manifold flap motor.

Thanks for for the responses guys, much appreciated. Audi Assist guy thought one cylinder was down, dealer staff suspected coil-pack issues. I'm still awaiting a reponse from the Technician so I'll update you later. Seems that it's a fairly common problem and nothing too much to worry about. Shame it happened on a Sunday afternoon returing from holiday with a boot full of luggage !! Just my luck !!

this happened to me twice now and they feed me a load of crap i told them to sort it or have the car back , in the end a audi tuner told them to change the maf sensor and since then been ok , i must admit though it is not the car i expected , dont feel like 400 bhp but will loose to much at moment to replace so will have to put up

In the end I was advised there was "no fault detected". Likewise, I'm left with the feeling that you should just put up with warning lights on a £55k can and get on with it, "you stupid customer" !!

Exactly the same as I was told. No fault codes found. Keep taking it back, I had to - four times!. As mentioned previously, mine needed a new inlet manifold, half days work on warranty. From something that used to happen nearly every time I drove it, no EPC lamp in six months now.

Hey - ho my emissions light came on AGAIN. I gave Audi some stick and pointed towards VAG-com. Once they saw this they backed off a little and told me the fault had been recorded 12 times by my ECU. They are now going to get the car in for 4 days or so to investigate it in mid Jan.

Interesting that others have had similar issues with the EPC warning lamp coming on. I've not had a long run in the car in the last week but I'll keep a close eye and keep you updated.

Rob, I've just emailed my dealership to get the precise fault that was found on mine (which needed the manifold change to fix). I'll post it here if I get a response so your tech can have a look. At least you'll be able to count it out if yours is ok.

Keep with it chief, I understand why you're fed up. I was well disappointed when mine was going wrong, but its not missed a beat since.

Intake manifold flap position sender,

implausible signal

Sporadic

At least they'll be able to rule it out if it doesn't fix it. Mine took four visits to fix, difficult to find being so intermittent I guess.

Why arent they investigating till mid Jan - and why 4 days?? Hope you are getting a decent courtesy car!!

I had the same problem - simialr story to other posts that the problem wasnt found on first few visits. Armed with this thread you should have your problem sorted in no time, assuming its the same issue.

I was told originally that this would take 3 days to do (and was asked to provide insurance docs etc for courtesy car). This was reduced to 1/2 day after i asked why three days. MAKE SURE THEY TOP YOUR FUEL UP TO WHERE IT WAS WHEN YOU DROPPED IT OFF (or take it in empty!!)
