Hmm totally depends i.e. Chassis bent, or just light vehicular damage to body panels etc etc, it will effect the resale value of course, Have you got a pic?

Have you checked with your insurer that they will cover a Cat D car?
From what I've been reading, as a rule of thumb, at Cat C\D will be worth 50%

Insuring is no problem,as ive had cat d and c in the past
my mate bought a car on cat c got written of again not long ago
insurance paid out £1300 more than what he paid for it
Theres no chassis damage on the rs4 just frontal parts, car still starts and drives

I see no problem with buying a Cat D car, my first 911 was Cat D registered and repaired to a very high standard. There are many cars out there that have been badly damaged but not recorded. In addition, there is a loop hole where cars registered in either Ireland/Northern Ireland that have been written off, lose their Cat D/C history when registered in the UK.
As Long as the vehicle is repaired to a high standard and you understand it will be harder to sell than a non Cat registered car, then go for it.

I looked at a cad d rs4 before deciding against it, funnily enough the mileage and age were very similar to yours - is this in Wales?.
Insurance is a big problem with these cars if they are cat d - i found only 3 companies. This combined with a few other suspect things regarding the car turned me against the idea.

Or was it knicked by a pikey, and his mate, who forgot to put on his seatbelt?

Grim, but I'd have to agree. I saw a car after my mate was knocked down, looked similar.
Seems like light damage for a Cat D. Any history to it?

My mate bought the car, from a salvage dealer,he know needs the money and is offering it to me.
The car had paperwork wiv it wen he bought it,so he rang up last owner, who said he bought the car brand new, was driving down the road and a dog ran out.
He got paid out 53k wiv gap insurance
The car is mint otherwise, with all manuals and servivce book
Like brand new inside
