I occasionally have the following issue (probably only from 1st -2nd or 2nd -3rd.
Reach high revs in previous gear and do a quick change to next. There is then a complete lack of any reponse from the throttle for maybe a second or slightly more before pickup.
This is in dry conditions with a fully warmed up engine by the way and cannot understand. No sign of any electronic aid on dash limiting power!

I suffer exactly the same thing, I am sure someone will chip in with "Traction Controll" but like you, I dont get any lights on the dash and its different to the times that I do, there is no wheel spin and often the reason I am 'caning it' is overtaking so it scares the crap out of you!!

I've experienced this and i am pretty sure it is to do with traction control!

Never had the problem with TC switched off.

I still feel it's the ESP kicking in, albeit for only a brief moment & not overly intrusive. I've replicated the same action with ESP off & this problem does vanish.

Agree - half stage TC off (i.e. the ESP part) removes the lag

It feels more like the ECU trying to protect clutch or drivetrain or something rather than a traction thing???

Had the clutch thing a few weeks ago (posted on here). Again it appears it's the cars brain playing silly beggers. If you change to quick, the ESP picks this up briefly & provides un-wanted assistance, if you're too angry with the clutch, it dis-engages & won't allow the gear to engage for a couple of seconds.

I've noticed this too. Not only is it annoying but it makes you look like a complete spoon to your passengers.

From the outside it probably appears like you missed the gear.. even more spoonyness and certainly makes the 0-62 time more like 6 secs as you have to lift off momentarily. M3s do it too, but in a less severe manner.

I'm curious about the 1/2 TC setting.. is this simply just pressing the ESP button once? Is there a fully off setting?

Yes - hold the button in for 5 seconds or so.

1/2 TC and the light on the dash flashes at about 1 second intervals
Fully off, and the light dstays illuminated.

Having been on the Audi Driving Experience day, fully off is most defiantely fully off
