Took car in today and ........

They need to keep the car in for 2-3 days , take off inlet manifold and do some pressure testing etc...?????? so booked back in a week on Monday.

Anyone any ideas what they are up to? Service lady very nice, but not exactly knowledgeable on job being done.

I thought it was just going to be the firmware update and away I went.

besides lumpy cold start...

Car also has tendency to rev after throttle blipped (errrr difficult to describe - I know cars are suppose to rev when you push the throttle, but it carries on, even with foot off the throttle for a brief time) - anybody else getting this problem (Jan 06 - RS4 Avant)

Also tried last week disconnecting the zorst valves, and car ran like a piece of poo , really lumpy and odd pickup on full throttle (say in 4th gear at 25mph and floor it, car picks up smoothly then slight hesitate (around 2.5-3k) and then picking up fine, then 5,500 rpm and bam...... up to 8,200 - reconnected before I went to stealers

Any thoughts/comments

Did you block off the pipes once you'd disconnected them?

Yep blocked the pipes as per the threads on the forum.

I think it just exaggerated the problems

Possibly. I just wanted to check you hadn't introduced an air leak.

I have the same problem on mine, started recently since its been cold and I had the software upgrade done about 2 months ago. That is lumpy when cold and over revving no problem with my zorst valves though all they have done is make the car louder!

Will let you know the outcome , if I can get it out of them! Got to wait over a week as the 'rs4 specialist' in the garage is on holiday new week

They are currently bolting the car back together so I can take it home tonight.

Sounds like a dodgy Coil or two too me.

Mine is booked in for software update on 20th. I have similar cold start lumpiness AND occasional "continuous revs" after throttle blip!

The Senior Service Advisor at Camberley Audi told me yesterday that the 24H8 SW upgrade is NOT to fix a cold start problem...

They've logged a DISS report with Audi after I complained that after the SW upgrade I've got a fast S4 instead of an RS4 - the raw edge of the performance has gone, it's still as fast but it doesn't feel like an RS any more.

Mines booked in for next Friday after a long chat today with RS4 tech, he also said that the over revving can be the sign that there is a fault and should also be a fault code stored lets see what happens. Also I am getting a lone car for the day / night asked for an r8 but was told I could have an S5 so that should be fun!

Yeah knowing my luck i'll get a 1.4 A2 !!!!

Just a thought the one thing I have done is the zorst mod to keep the flaps open all the time, I wonder if its worth putting it back to normal to see if it makes any difference or am I just being daft?
