A leftfield suggestion, but did you buy your car brand new?? If not, perhaps it had a re-map present & the software upgrade has wiped the re-map.

Hope not... !!! mine is in for 'lumpy cold start' this morning - so I guess this will mean ECU upgrade (least that's what I told the service department - that I had read!)
Might vote tomorrow - hopefully 'no'

Mine runs beautiful after the upgrade. At the same time I disconnected the vacuum pipes to the exhaust valves and the two combined seems to have really sharpened up the performance of the car.

No my car was new - After the upgrade it was smoother, also fixed the cold running problems, but felt a little less of an animal.

Thx for the input .... seems my 'spluttering cold start' will soon be resolved? Is their anyway you can tell what version ECU you have without going to the dealer?
Jezzer pls elaborate on the 'removal of vacuum pipes' is this the same effect a 'S' button?

Sort of agree .... I'm pretty sure the performance is the same, but it's character has changed to being much "softer" and smoother so you don't feel it as much. Just like mrdeli said "felt a little less of an animal"
Camberley Audi want me to take my car back to do a full guided scan to send back to Audi and quattro gmbh who are looking into the issue.
Hopefully they'll eventually issue a new SW update that will get back more of the "animal" feel.

From my reading of this the upgrade will remove the cold 'lumpy' engine feeling by altering mixture rate and timing. If this is the case then surely to do that it will not give as rich a mixture and would contribute to what people have described as less of an edgy or 'animal' like car?

I've written to Audi today, and will be interested in their response....
