Having had the RS4 for 3 glorious months and posted a few times on here, as you know, I then moved onto the A5 but now have just put a deposit on a BMW 535D Sport

This will prob be one of my last few posts on here as I shall I have to go and seek an informative BMW forum....DMS treatment to seek next!!

Don't know if there's any previous 535D owners on here but any advice or gremlins I should be looking for on the car are welcome....

As I've said before though when the time is right, I'll be back for the RS treatment....

Also if anyone on here bought my Black RS4 Avant from Leeds Audi, MJ07 *** hope you are enjoying it

Nice ride. Will probably feel even more powerful in day to day driving.

W8PMC had one of these and it was DMS tuned - I'm sure he'll be along soon to give you his views....

I've seen that car around Wakefield/Leeds

i just px,d my 535d sport last week and am now in an rs4, my bm was standard (282bhp) great car but couldnt get used to driving a diesel, the nosie and smell annoyed me
as far as big diesels nothing to touch it and if your doing plenty of miles its the one

I went from a DMS tuned 535D to my RS4, don't get me wrong the BM is a fine piece of kit and with the DMS re-map it did actually feel faster than my RS4, probably due to the massive amount of torque it had, but I must warn you it's just so easy to drive with such a lack of involvement it becomes incredibly boring,it's as they call all these fast diesels a point and squirt car. Also just watch it in the wet with the DMS Re Map as it's soooo easy to loose the back end with all that torque.
Don't think I'm slagging the BM off as I'm not, it's a very good car but it's NO RS4.

I too changed from a 535d M sport superchiped to my current RS4.I had the BMW for over one year.It was a great car but no involving enough.I could not get used to having a diesel and found when filling up at the pumps to be a dirty and smelly experience.

My dads just got a 535 m sport diesel and its a quick car however I dont like th einteriors of the new bmws they are not as substantial feeling as the old ones. I think the materials look and feel cheap. We have X5 3.0d sport and it just feels better made.

Who on earth recommened that, you will regret it mate they are not very quick, the A5 remapped will P*ss all over it. Good luck

Hmm possibly, but glad to be back to 4 doors and a bigger motor in general.....hopefully the DMS treatment will do wonders....though I have hankered after one of these 535D's for a while after seeing the reviews but just had to experience the RS4 and A5 first.....

Berry100 - I have both . IMO, I dont think a 535d will float your boat. Unless of course you like indecisive auto's, curious software quirks and general hatred from other road users (when you're wanting to make progress). The 535d is a quick car (mine is remapped), fairly frugal (39mpg overall), decent bootspace. But theres positively, absolutely, no "high" or "reward" in its ownership. Moreover, unless you have a friend in BMW you'll pay way over the odds (you should get 19% discount if you do) for the car and get well and truly stiffed on trade in... My 2p worth.

I also had a DMS tuned 535d M-Sport as S4INT said. I owned the car for about 4 months & really did love the car, however at that time i was entering a high mileage period, but as is often the case this changed within a few months.

The car was awesome & if i had a £ for every time someone mouthed "it's a fcuking diesel" as i ripped past them, i could have covered my payments on the car. Mine was fully loaded & the toys kept me amused for many many miles. The performance was breathtaking, as straight line it would keep pace with an M3. The downside was the smelly section of petrol stations & no matter how good the engine was, you could never get away from it's Diesel genes & noises.

If you're gonna do mega miles, want good general economy, many toys & great performance when required, then i don't think anything touches the 535d, howeve for an extra giggle & assuming you don't need the vast space, have you considered a 335d, as that's meant to be mind blowing when DMS'd.

As my mileage dropped, i ditched the 535d & jumped into one of the new M5's which was a proper giggle, but it's power was not as usable as the RS4 in everyday terms.

New RS6 on order for July 2008, so will be keeping the RS4 till then, as i to date think it's the best car to tick all my boxes & i just hope the new RS6 continues this affection.

Did consider the 335d but am not a fan of the looks of it....specially the rear....

Also I fancied the extra space the 535d gives.....the DMS treatment will come after I've spent a month familiarising myself with it first!

Also having seen this particular one in Imola Red I just had to have it now!

Look forward to giving a review of it myself on the BMW forum of course.....

I nearly bought your RS4 from leeds Audi, but after reading about your little lad's cleaning of your car with a yard breen i decided not to, but it was a lovely spec

I presume you are changing because of mileage and fuel economy issues, surely changing your cars so often is going to cost you more in depreciation than you will save on teh fuel bills???

Personally i would buy something economical and cheap to do the miles in and get back into a RS4. I once did about 800 miles in a day on 1 tank in a 406 Diesel estate. lovely thing for the distance work and econimical, you can pick them up for buttons.
