I know there are lots of threads on the subject but none giving an idea of how badly the bucket seats wear on say 10-20k miles have trawled through the threads and only found opinions on preference recardo’s over buckets. I am actively seeking a B7 at the moment and would like to get an idea of how the leather copes to make I final decision on this so could some of you nice gentlemen give me and overall picture of wear and damage on the bucket seats and also any damage occurring on the recardo’s

20k on my car with buckets. No "damage" at all...just feed the leather regularly and take care getting in and out of the car and they will be fine. I think recaros will be easier to look after, but they just don't provide enough support for my liking.

Personal preference in the end and both recaros and buckets have their merits.

I have the buckets and the car has 13k on it now - the side bolsters where you get in and out are starting to show a few creases now, but they don't have any damage as such.

Just a few creases on the side bolsters on the buckets.

Hi Dom,

I'd say either zymol leather cleaner and conditioner or the Gliptone leather care range. Zymol is easier and quicker to use but the Gliptone is probably better overall at smoothing out creases. I'd be interested to hear what others use.

I use the Gliptone, but on the recaro sports seats not the buckets.... its very good at topping up the leather smell in the car

Currently using poorboys Leather Stuff but will probably go for Zymol Treat next time.

Yep, it does smell amazing doesn't it

Thanks for the replys guys has helped me convince myself to get the buckets but i think i would of any way but helped to read the replys and i can vouch for liquid leather great stuff

No probs . As for getting to bed early, since I turned 30 earlier this year, I seem to be getting away with 4-5 hours sleep a night without feeling tired. I try to have a lie in at weekends but I just wake up! Ah well, more chances to drive the car

How the bloody hell did you manage that list of cars by the time you were 30? I think I'd got to a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo...

The scary thing is I only became a "petrolhead" when I was around 24 yo . I think the answer to your question is mainly that:

1. I have a VERY understanding wife
2. I have no kids

The second may be changing next year...I just hope I won't have to give up cars in order to become a responsible dad .
