Well that's the dirty deed done, the RS4 has gone back to Audi to find a new home.....

Picked up an A5 3.0 tdi sport which will be a great workhorse for the mileage I'm currently doing....

Have to say the 7000 miles i covered in the RS4 in less than 3 months were the best miles I've had the pleasure of......

I'll keep up to date on this thread with the occasional pangs of desire to get back into the RS......one day...one day......

Sad day indeed, but needs must and high mileage RS4's will go cheap, so you made the right choice, with a remap the oil burner will fly. Best regards J

Hmm...a remap will be in the future.......

I realise tuners have been discussed before, but which is best for the upgraded 3.0 tdi engine that is in the A5?

Will @ http://www.p-torque.co.uk/ can do great maps for the 3.0 TDI

Sad day indeed, but needs must and high mileage RS4's will go cheap, so you made the right choice, with a remap the oil burner will fly.

What's the point of having the car if you have to worry about mileage, it's certainly not a car to keep tucked away in the garage....It P***es me off when everyone just looks at the mileage, these cars go on forever, what about looking on the paperwork and how it's been looked after, rant over.

I would tend to agree Howard. I wouldn't worry too much about milleage when buying a car. There are far more important considerations such as proper servicing, whether it has been looked-after by an enthusiast and how those miles were accumulated. I agree that the average short-sighted buyer will see milleage/age as the measure of the car's condition.

I've seen quite a few stinkers (including RS4s) with low milleage that made me run a mile. In the end, I went for a used RS4 with 15k miles as it was in far better condition than anything else I looked at...and it was worth its price. After years of buying second hand cars, I've realised that milleage/age is not a reliable indicator of a car's condition.

If one is worried about re-sale value and clocking up huge milleage...I'd advise just get a reliable run around (whatever the size) to use day to day and keep the RS4.

I have had mine for five weeks now and covered almost 6k, its a drivers car so drive it! I have had enough of getting cars and limiting my own usage when the only person its going to benifit is its next owner.

12 months in and 23,000 (extremely enjoyable) miles!

What's the point of running it in for someone else to enjoy? Car is getting better every day! I bought it to drive it and will continue to do so, proper maintenance and TLC with the 'Autoglym' that's all that's needed!

Enjoy them for fooksake, otherwise sell it to someone who WILL enjoy it and get yourself a Polo diesel!

Totally agree! mine new one arrives this week and I bought it on the basis that I intend to do over 20k a year in her !! Surely if your doing shed loads of miles you want to do it with a big smile on your face. I'm always suspicous of low milage cars that have been sitting around on a drive or in a garage and never get used... Ive seen a few low milage B5's and couldnt understand how a 7 year old car has only done 40k??? Why? OK theres a cost thing petrol wise but surely if you fork out 50k ish for a car you can afford the juice... Besides thats what expenses are for

Its also a bit like being married to Angelina Joilie and having her locked away in the spare room and never get her out to play. Mind you I always went for the high milage birds as well If you know what I mean.

I'm going to be doing 20K a year in mine to. Figure that if I'm going to spend that much time in a car I might as well enjoy it....

I too have some 23k miles on mine, put 20k on it over the last 10 months.

So far its cost, 2 x services, front disks and pads, 4 new tyres, 3 litres of oil and a few tanks of petrol ;0)
Have been looking to trade, but have been offered 38k max from dealers, so keeping for now.

Not sure why you'd be suspcious of a low mileage car, I've just about done 5,000 miles in mine in 12 months... but thats only as we've moved house 10 months ago which means my wifes previous 3hr daily commute is now 15mins walk and I get the train to work...

Im also in the sad day members club.Just sold my RS4 over the weekend.My car was only used at the weekends, and only had 1700 miles racked up.I would not have used it so much over winter, so i thought i would try advertising it, and see what would happen.I had a lot of interest in the car, and it sold very quickly.The phone is still ringing.I got quite close to what i paid for it, so am very happy from a financial point, but, i was very sad to see the car go.I had thought about going back to another M5, as i genuinely, and surprisingly, missed the paddle shift and straight line performance of the BMW.Not so sure now.Will wait and see what comes up, regards, SIMON.
