Tyres2 - Pirelli Corsa's

Post by mac4RS » Tue Sep 11, 2007 1:07 am

:?: I am looking to purchase a set of tyres - Pzero Corsa's (I have a 2nd set of alloys).

I know the basic info on these tyres, but would like some feedback regarding how the car handles with them on etc.

Also, any suggestions as to where I can purchase them from.

Regards,

Mac

Have not used corsa's on my Audi but do have them on my 996 turbo and have to say they are the best tyre I have come across in terms of grip, resistance to wear and ability to cope with high track temps. As a road tyre they do need heat in them to work well which is sometimes hard to achieve. You may want to look at another choice, I fitted 265/30/19 to my RS which has transformed the car. in my case I have used Conti 3's

Interesting

I looked up 255,35,19, Y rated

I notice that some are just rated as above and some are rated additionally as 96Y XL ?

Anybody know what the difference is ?
Cheers

Thanks guys, have been quoted 1K from a local supplier. These tyres will be purely for the track only.

Have heard that they offer extreme grip when they get really hot, and were developed around the RS4.

Any further views would appreciated. :)

XL = eXtra Load ... which is the version that RS4's need.

The OEM PZeros did a stunning job for 2 laps of the Nordschleife & warm to a good sticky surface, however a 3rd lap on it was near on impossible, as they were too hot & the tyre surface was unable to cope with the forces.

Saying that, compared to the same track/conditions running PS2's on both the RS6 & E60 M5, the PZeros were remarkable & appear will last mucho longer as apart from a slightly uneven tread pattern, they look in great shape.

The OEM PZeros
Paul, from what you said & your 'she's done great' thread (ex feed back by the way), you were running the Rosso's (Direzionale)...They seemed to take a good punishing!

I wanted to know people's experience on the Corsa's (Assimetrico) - were these the Cup tyres you referred to in the other thread?

My first run out with these tyres will be @ the Audi Int Day in October.

Mac

PS Sounded like a gr8t time at the ring - any future trips let me know. :P
