Alloys - painting

All,

after some rather naff driving on my part over the past 3 months my RS is left with 3 wheels needing refurb.

The passenger front and rear are curbed, while the the drivers rear is flaking after a refurb earlier in its life....

I think I have seen on here a set of wheels where like on the 20" Q7, the front surface is silver however the rear of the wheel and between the spokes in painted dark grey or black?

Am I going mad, or has someone already done this?

Steve

Ive got that ordered for mine which goes into Lepsons next week. (Was meant to be this week, but audi still have my car for the throttle issues). Looks slightly different, goes well with black and helps disguise the dirt on the alloys. I think its called silver chrome dark - but best to check beforehand.

Dont advise refurb on standard wheels, they are coated with something that prevents paint sticking to them long term and also get far too hot for any standard paint. Have not yet come across anyone who can replicate the pearl effect on them either.

QEK, the company who look after the Audi press fleet nearby at Upper Heyford use a company called Pristine. The warranty the work for a year against any problems, however the are expensive. But hey, if Audi UK insist on them being used then they must be OK.

Varsity,

I am talking to my supplying dealer at the moment, I bought nearly new and the car came with refurbished wheels that are flaking badly, I want the car to go to Pristine, but they are saying they will only pay the 'man in the van' price as that is what they used before and would use again... have you got any info on the Audi UK thing, I could use it to push them some more...??

Jason

I too can vouch for Pristine's quality and they have agents all over the UK so getting them done is fairly stress-free.

You can opt for two-coat or three-coat finishes, the three-coat one is the one to go for.

And they match perfectly to Audi's colour, especially for the RS4, just ask Audi!

Got my car back from Lepsons today - pictures attached per previous requests.

Colour/Spec is Silver Chrome Dark, cost is negotiable with them depending on wheel condition if repairing also.

I got them to swap my tyres round to balance out the wear whilst they had them off.
