Does RS4 really turn heads when you drive it on the road???

Post by tomyeh » Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:39 am

I have been driving my new B7 RS4 Avant (Sprint Blue) for awhile... but for some reason i don't think it does turns head like i thought it would, many years back when i bought my brand new Evolution 6 it turned far more heads than the RS4 did... is it just me? or this car just look too much like an A4?

I've had more people look at my RS than any other car I've owned. Also get people pulling up at lights "nice car mate" etc...

Turns heads for sure.

I'd agree - it turns heads of fellow petrolheads but for Mondeo man, it's just another Audi. I like that personally !!!

Yup me too....

However.... the place I get the most attention is car parks and petrol stations, mostly just as you press that lovely silver button :-)

I have had comments, grins, thumbs ups and all sorts :-)

Like Diggler, I bought the RS4 because its a sleeper and doesn't draw attention to itself.

Only Audi aficionados know what it is.

Which hopefully means that the vandals and pikeys hit the Porsche next door rather than my car.

The RS4 is not a head turner to the average joe. It is more stealthy than your previous EVO with its bonnet air intake and table tray rear wing. If your looking ot catch joes eye then you need in your face styling and ugliness offered by the EVOs and scubbies of this world.

It will attract the attention of people who know about RS4s; even debadged, the flared wheelarches, exhausts, brake callipers and wing mirrors can be a bit of a giveaway to those who know. Having been a Caterham 7 owner for the last few years I have to say, however, that the Caterham attracted a lot more attention.

I can only agree with this comment too - that S button has me smiling every day !!! Engine takes a while to warm up and I tend to wait until it's at warmed up before "that" button is engaged !!! :D

I tend to get few but nice reactions

petrolheads look and admire, nuckleads ignore, everyone can't figure out where that lovely NASCAR noise is coming from :)

actually had a white van man slow down in front of me, pull over and wave me to overtake, so he could hear me gun it (his wife looked a bit bemused though)

It gets the odd nod from petrolheads and people knowledgable about cars but to the average person it looks like any other audi...which is the way I want to keep it.

When I had the Noble, I could literally not leave it anywhere. Everyone crowded around to have a look at it and ask me questions etc. I even had people jump out in front of me while the car was MOVING...to take photos (in central london). It was fun for a week or so but after that it got very tedious. I much prefer the sleeper look of the RS4.

Turning heads

Post by LeeJR » Thu Aug 02, 2007 2:22 pm

Almost weekly for the entire last year, I get compliments about my RS4. I've had people pull up next to me in parking lots just to get a look, as well as employees at the hospital I work at randomly approach me just to chat about it.

It's true, though that most of these people are petrolheads or women.

ive found it does turn heads, probably more so than my M3 did but then again the RS4 is a bit more rarer than an M3...

"Sleeper" I like that word, mine is seen buy enthusiasts and ignored by Ford Man, just how I like it. 8)

I've never had anyone pay much attention to it which was great. I had a guy in another Sprint blue one looking ta it when I went through belgium last weekend and on the way back some guys in a Portuguese Corsa were photographing it so it looks like they at least knew what it was. No-one else though.

I saw a German registered Custard yellow one with Ceramic brakes at the 'ring last week. Now he did want to be noticed!
