Hopefully i will soon be joining the B7 RS4 owners club. I will be coming from a highly modified impreza which needs to be run on v-power only.

What do Audi/yourselves recommend running the RS4's on? i am guessing it will also be the higher RON fuels :?:

Thanks,

Think the hand book suggests V-max too, but mine runs on what I can get but always super of some form. I tried £172 worth of Ultima 102, didnt run any better than £55 worth of Tesco 99............ be warned!!

Ultima 102 is ultra-high octane - only avialabe at a few pumps and only benefits specially adjusted engines

RS4 is better with 97/98 Octane (but will run on standard unleaded) and I'm going to give Tesco 99 a try

Always V-Power with the odd tank of Ultimate, as i was told a while back that you really should not always use the exact same brand.

Reason for Simon's high Ultima fill is it costs about £2.50 per litre at the very few garages it's available from, so 2 1/2 times the cost of the other Super U/L fuels.

I always go for Tesco 99 or V-Power. i have some times uses 95 RON and the difference is noticable.

Always use Tesco 99 RON unless I can't find it...

Fuel of good quality down here in Wales is few and far between.

I've only ever used standard 95 ron, is there really a difference with 98?

Whats wrong with regular 95? Thats what the car is tuned to by Audi, right?

Just any old fuel should do.

The car is designed to run on 98 RON.

IMHO, only the best will do.

There have been long debates on tyresmoke on this, economy will be improved along with improved response and more power with higher Ron rates, tesco 99 ron is very well recieved by mine 95 Ron is not.

Fuel mileage is about 10% better on 98 ...why? 98 (and Sainsburys 97 and Tesco 99 and V-Power, etc) are lower sulphur fuels. On an FSi engine, like the RS4, that means less cycles where the trapped sulphur is purged out of the cat and those purge cycles burn more fuel than usual.

So as well as more power (due to the higher octane) you get better mileage.

It's a no brainer running 98 - it's cheaper (since in the UK it costs about 5% more and gives you 10% better mpg)!!!
