RS4 Finishes Production, RS5 on its way?
Spoke to my dealer a couple of days ago (having a quick look at the new S5) and have been told that RS4 production has ceased.
It is quite interesting - at least my B7 should get a better residual, as there are now just a limited number of them on the road. However, the new M3 has the market to itself now, even though, by all press accounts the B7 is a better car.
It probably will mean that the introduction of the RS5 will be sooner rather than later, just to increase the BMW gap, especially when the M3 CSL is launched.
My guess is we will see the RS5 between a year and 18 months time. Luckily, I have 2 on order.
Your thoughts on this would be interesting?

Audi have confirmed (i never really turst it when they say confimed) that the RS6 will be the next RS & should arive on these shores next Spring. Once production of the RS6 finishes about 12-18mths later, the new RS5 will arrive.
Audi are launching the A5 with only a 3.0TDi engine & at the same time the S5 with the 4.2 V8 (although de-tuned from the RS4 to 354BHP).
I doubt the RS5 will arrive before the RS6, as we've already seen Audi performing final testing on the RS6. Would be great if the rumoured RS6 engine is also used on the RS5. I've got premier slot No.1 at my dealers on both cars.

RE: RS4 Finishes Production, RS5 on its way?
Hope you are right with the residual for RS4 as i about to sell mine as my R8 is due in Nov.
Put a deposit on a RS6 today due June next year.
The car has been moved forward on production to March 2008 so maybe this will be the next big noise.
Drove an S5 today, nice but 3.0 L diesel seemed nearly as fast.
Looking forward to seeing the RS5.

I hope they sort the RS6, I drove the new S6, and it really does behave like a boat. I didn't get chance to drive the S5 the other day as they had them all hidden away awaiting today's official launch, It looks nice, but the switchgear has certainly taken on a cheaper feel, which is a pity

Looking forward to getting more info on the RS5 but I read in Car mag that it's rumoured the RS5 will have a motor with twin turbos fitted - has anyone heard what size of an engine is being slotted in ?

Totally agree 100%, no RS5 before the RS6, confirmed by audi UK (if they have there info right)W8PMC wrote:Audi have confirmed (i never really turst it when they say confimed) that the RS6 will be the next RS & should arive on these shores next Spring. My money is on the RS5 not appearing until 2011, if it appears at all.
RS models don't appear until the last year or two of a models life.

You are probably right, but may come a little sooner as Audi continues to blitz BMW's salesin the UK. Could be in the US first, where (at the moment) BMW & Mercedes sales are higher. My money is on the RS5 not appearing until 2011, if it appears at all.

While I believe that they may stick on a couple of turbochargers, I really wouldn't be surprised if it ends up just being put on a massive diet over the S5. It'll make it handle better than the M3 which is getting criticised for being too lardy.
I love the line in the Car magazine article. 450 hp is not much of an increase over the 354 of the S5. !!!! 96hp is more than my first car had full stop!

RS3 was a pipe-dream by the looks of it.......jackwood wrote:RS4 has now stopped production.
At the weekend my dealer said he expects them to not make an RS4 again now there is an A5 platform. That doesn't sound right to me!
He also mentioned a rumoured RS3, which is something I haven't seen touted around.
Jack
If they dont make another RS4, the world will end very soon!
