Headlights in Europe

Hi, I'm off to France at the weekend and wonder if anyone knows whether the headlights on the RS4 can be switched for continental use or if I need to tape them up?

Just got back from two weeks in France myself.
You don't need any physical adjustments or sticky tape - just use VAG-COM to change the value in adaptation channel 10 of address 55 (the Xenon range controller) from 0 to 1 before you go and put it back to 0 again when you get back. That puts the headlights into "Tourist" mode so they dip straight and can be used in both the UK & in Europe.

Thanks for that.
Although you've lost me, is that something I could do myself or does it need to go in?
Forgive my ignorance

If you have a computer and Vag Com link, you can do it yourself, I would suggest by your answer, that you take it to your dealer to get done. Its a five minute job....

Chaps,
There seems to be a distinct US and THEM thing going on with VAG-COM. Those that have it have a tendency to say "oh just use the VAG-COm to change it, oh you don't have it, well to the dealer with you."
what would be more helpful perhaps would be to let us know how to get hold of the programme and cable!
Just my pennies worth!

There's a whole VAG-COM forum just a mouse click away...

Nothing like making it simple eh? In my BMWs all you had to do was pop the bonnet and flick a switch....looks like a roll of electrical tape for me!

I've had Audi's since 2000 and bought a VAG-COM cable within 3 months (5 minutes on Google found the Ross Tech website, not difficult) - with saved trips to dealers for me and other people it's paid for itself many times over.

Im near Gravesend in Kent.
My local dealer reckons that there is a switch somewhere but "you probably need to take the bumper off to get to it" !!!

Just realised how my previous post sounded. Was meant to be semi-humorous but really wasn't was it?

Problem solved, very nice man (wrong company) from Audi Roadside Assistance came out to sort it for me. Good work!
