How are your Black Optics exhausts looking after 10.000km ?

I'm a bit worried, the RS4 has black optics and the exhausts are black. Only after 10k there are already bad burn marks, mostly downunder but also somewhat on the sides. As it turns out, the black exhausts don't have the coating normal exhausts come with, so are the burns unavoidable?

I have the Stainless ones and I use "Autoglym" to keep them gleeming, the black coating is "Anodosed" and this is only microns thick,so it will burn off/discoulour eventually.

I recently had my rear exhaust boxs replaced under warrentee because of this. My car had 6000 miles when this happened, I expect it will have to be done again within 6 months. Tips went dicoloured then rust spots appeared and there is nothing that can be done other then replacing them.

Simon, are your pipes black as per the Optics Pack?? I can't recall.

If so worth noting your point & i'll be sure to alert my dealer to get a stock of black tips.

Mine still look brand new after 2400 miles.

Funny really, my old RS6+ had 17k on the clock and the pipes were like new. Perhaps they are using a different coating. It might be worth mentioning if you get the stock answer "Oh yes they all do that, sorry"
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

The tips are welded to the exhaust, the whole exhaust from the cats back!

Doubt if they will keep too many of them in stock!
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
