Stalling on Start-Up??

Meant to post this a week ago, but i've noticed every now & again when i start the car (from cold), the 1st fire will be juddery & after a couple of seconds it will stall.
This does not happen evey time i start the car, possibly 1 in 3 cold starts. Is it just one of those things or a known problem??
When it's juddering, i DON'T feather the throttle as i don't want to flood the engine & screw the cats up, but could do with knowing if it's a known problem??
Cheers.

Have a look at this post it may be relevant to you.
"Is anyones car hesitating at constant revs"
Its at the bottom of the page at the moment but it may only relevant if your car has a certain chasis number.

Cheers, but not the same thing as firstly my car is a 2007 Build (March) & had all relevant upgrades etc. applied before delivery last month.
I don't suffer with any oddities when on the move & the DMS Map has gone a long way to improve in-gear thrust & any issues with hesitation, this is purely when 1st starting the car when the engine is cold every now & again.

Hi guys,
I've got the exact problem like yours. Had the car for 3 weeks now and it stalled on "Cold" start 3 times. Techo did not find any faults recorded when he put it on the diagnostic instrument and said to keep an eye on it although he did say it shouldn't do that.

This could be fowled plugs.
Be warned, starting and then stopping immediately will fowl the plugs.
I guess that for the first few mins the car runs super rich

I would agree it sounds like dirty plugs.
It is a known problem if the car has done lots of short start/stops, so much so that Audi were replacing all the plugs at PDI when I got mine last July.
However, this should usually clear with a good long run.

This happens to me too, the cause of mine is that im lifting off the clutch pedal too early. If i hold the clutch pedal down for a couple of seconds after it has first fired it never does it. Try holding the clutch pedal in for a few seconds over the next week to see if remedies it.

Mine doesn't do this....but slightly side-tracking, speaking of the plugs...what make/part number are the stock RS4 plugs?

I have had the sale issue on mine, its not systematic,; cannto undersntad why it does sometimes and why it does not at other times...
The only thing I'be notices but not 100% sure is that it looks it does it more when its hot outside, but cannot besure of that (i just can't remember having that problem during winter
