Just come back from Links in Macclesfield and they have had a confirmation letter from Audi saying that RS4 orders are no longer being taken, unless you get one in in the next day or so.

Does that mean, no more RS4 orders period.....or will they revert back to production when they have supplied speculators with the R8's they ordered

I would guess that's it's no more orders period. The new model A4 will be out in the autumn. Why would they continue to produce the RS4 with the old bodyshell?

I'm not saying you're wrong but wouldn't that mean that there would be no RS4's available for about 18 - 24 months or so if Audi keep to their normal periods of time, probably even longer for a cab version if they make one.

I'd put money on that they'll move production to R8 and then to RS6.

Yes, at least that long. It was 5 years between the B5 RS4 and the B7 and it's been 3 years now since the RS6 was last produced.
The next cab may actually be quicker as the cab will be based on the new A5 body shell. There is no new A4 cab going forward. There will be A3 and A5 instead. So if there is to be another RS cab it's likely to be an RS5 cab.

as stated that always happens with RS cars, Audi make them in the last 1/2 years of a models life cycle so there is often a 3 or 4 year gap.
That is why they are rarer than M cars, only about a 12 month gap there.

This is what Audi told me yesterday, engines required for the flagship, and I got shot of my A8 (2007) just in time as the new revised A8 is here in november.

Audi wont have 2 RS models on sale at any one time... so what happens to the possible RS3 then??
the RS4 is being stopped to make up production line space for the over whelming demand for the R8 which is already about 2 years wait!!!
Point taken about not reviving the B7 RS4 with the new RS6 under going final shakedown testing, so that should be out late this year/ early next.
With the release of the S5 at launch, perhaps Audi will bring out the RS5 sooner than we think? but what of the RS6!!
It doesnt make sense to me why Audi will only ever have 1 RS on sale at any one time, surely the RS5 AND RS6 would be appealing to different audiences anyway?
I think there should be an RS version of all models as a halo for that model range and not 1 RS model for the entire marque.
Will the A3 cabrio come as an S3 cabrio or an RS derivative?
Obviously there needs to be time for developing RS models so it will be towards the end of the model run before that model is superceded.

I was in Links Audi Macc on Tuesday and they categorically told us we could order a new build to whatever spec we wanted. As it turned out we ordered a pre built one. I believe the Saloon is no more but the Avant will continue for a little while longer?
