1/4 mile times

Post by VARSITY » Sun Apr 22, 2007 2:51 pm

Have just done 3 runs at Long Marston Raceway, Stratford upon Avon and did the following.

ET 105.92 mph 13.72sec reaction time 1.38sec
ET 104.60 mph 14.09sec reaction time 0.29sec
ET 104.29 mph 13.43sec reaction time 0.87sec

It was getting better as the runs went on but the queues were getting long and didn't fancy trying to explain why my clutch needing replacing at 2400 miles.

Has anyone else had a go yet and if so whats your timings?

What fun!

I dont think you were trying hard enough.
I ran 13.9 in my remapped S3 there, the RS4 should hit high 12s or at least low low 13s.
Was you launching with enough welly!

OK, so I am a trackday virgin!

The 1st and 2nd launchs were suttle, slowly off the line with little spin, however the 3rd was with a 4000rpm drop of the clutch. It didn't make that much difference.

There was a silver S3 there that hit 89mph at 18secs, I didn't see any others there that wee 13's. There was an RS4 B5 that did 13's with a remap only.

I must try harder
I must try harder
I must try harder
I must try harder
I must etc etc

:bash:

Yep not the quickest, interesting/varied reaction times?. My ur quattro did 14.05 years back at the same place.

8.4 is very quick for a bike, what bike may I ask?

Varsity, you didn't do that badly as I sense you wanted to be mechanically sympathetic to the car (I would too). If you really abused it, I think you would manage high 12s/low 13s. The cost would almost certainly be a clutch replacement.

This car wasn't really made to do good quarter mile times as standard.

I was willing it to go faster, but in the same time wanted to avoid a visit to the dealer. It was huge fun and something I can now tick on the list of things I have done.

What next?

Sorry - I'm obviously being stupid, but what reaction times are involved? Do you have to go on a light or something?

one month ago i tried my RS4 on track , autocross and 1/4 mile , in the first run on the 1/4 mile i do 13.2 @179km/h and i was very sad to see these time , i do the launch with 4500rpm , there was no wheel spin !! , and the clutch was rubish because there was too much grip

with racing clutch i'm sure i can do 12.7 easely

anyone know if there is racing clutch to replace the standerd one with it :?:

No! If they did, they would be slower over a 1/4 than a car, which isn't going to happen!
