!st Service Costs

Post by RS4-RAG » Mon Apr 16, 2007 9:23 pm

Hi

NEW to the forum!

Just having the 1st service done at 12.5k miles and presented with a  £300+ for oil change and filter - WOW!

Then theres the brake discs and pads - discs I've been told will be under warranty but the pads will be £355 - 95% gone, doesn't a car worth over 50k have brake pad warning sensors?

Then theres all 4 tires that are nearly gone.

Is this something to be expected.

Other than that can't complain!!

Seems your dealer is taking the p*ss. I was quoted £230 all in for oil and filter change. Is that for the pads front and back? I do hope so. What was wrong with your discs?

Just for the front pads, said the discs had scores in them so need replacing. apparently needs 8 litres of oil at £15 each - the rest probably fitting and filter!

I thought it needed 10 litres with the filter change, could be wrong though. Have you checked the dipstick since. Those pads are expensive. I'm not looking forward to having a service but I've only done 3000 miles in seven months so I not going to wear things out too quick.

As a matter of interest, who is your local dealer.

Wharfedale Audi - Yorkshire - cant check the dipstick because they had to keep the car overnight to replace the pads.

But Syko...you track your car don't you? Are you using standard pads or aftermarket varieties on track?

Is that price of £355 for the front pads right? It seems way too much, did that include fitting. I would've thought the labour would've have been nil if the discs were replaced under warranty.

£355 for the front pads including fitting. Discs replaced totally under warranty. Should the brake pads warning light come on - or is there no such device on the RS4.

My first service was equally expensive on the oil change front. Also was advised that the tyres need replacing. I too am at 12k miles and running the Pirelli. However, as i'm taking it to the ring at the end of May, no new rubber (PS2) will be fitted just yet... I'm also expecting to come back and have to address the brakes!

Interesting about the brake warning sensor thing, my 14 year old BMW M5 has them fitted, so i'd be surprised if these didn't!!!!???

Surprised to hearthat the pads needs replacing after only 12.5K miles. Is this normal for a RS4?. Has the car been around a track regularly?

Aslo they should not be charging you labour if they are replacing the discs under warranty. I would be peeved if it were me and they tried to charge me labour. Taking the living p1ss

Yes the RS4 has the warning. If you press the check button its something like the 3rd of the system check ones that come up.
I would ask to see the pads if I were you. I know its a heavy car but you'd really have to be driving on your brakes or be the sort who stands on them to get that sort of wear that quickly without having been on a couple of track days.

Totally agree. Very surprising if they need changing after said milage and little track days. Actually scaring more than surprising. Ask to see the pads. If they have "thrown them away" them kick up stink.
