In just over a years time i'm going to be in the market for a sports saloon and will have a budget of c.£30k. Currently on my short list in order are:-

RS4 (B7)
BMW M5
RS6
BMW 335i M Sport
S4 (B7)

Anyone any thoughts on what the RS4 (B7) will be retailing in about a year's time? (Apologies to any owners that may find this depressing)

I hate these threads, I'm just not interested in talking about what my car might be worth in a years time. I buy it, enjoy it and then sell it for what I can get for it when the time comes. The last thing I think about is what it might be worth as it destroys the total enjoyment of owning a great car. No disrespect but please go and talk about this somewhere else.

Seriously though. It is too hard to say. Some people keep talking down the prices because its not as exclusive as their B5's some

what anyone is prepared to pay.

I'm just enjoying it too much to worry about depreciation.
I think this must be the first car I have bought with my heart rather than weighing up fuel economy, running costs depreciation etc Because of this I'm more likely to keep it for longer and not switch it for something else. Keeping it for more than my usual 12-18 months should ofset most of the earlier depreciation I have suffered with other so called 'prestige marques'

30K Budget?

RS4 (B7) - No chance.
BMW M5 - No chnace.
RS6 - Yes
BMW 335i M Sport - Yes
S4 (B7) - Yes

This is a sensible question from people that do not yet own a B7 and may be looking to purchase one in the future.

So the fact that none of you want to talk about it is not the point.

I woudl think that depreciation will be greater than with the B5. Partly due to the increased numbers available and also the fact that the RS4 is no longer the only "hot" Audi that is available. Poeple now have other choices such as R8 and S5 (maybe even RS5).

Given that 2 year old B5's were going for £35k+ ??? I would think that a 2 year old B7 in 12 months time will be somewhere around the £30k+ mark.

So with a £30k budget an RS4 is certainly possible.

I didn't get a chance to finish my post last night and now can't edit it. What I wanted to say was....
B5 RS4 owners and some others seem to keep thinking that the B7 is going to drop like a stone.

I can't see it myself. (its still more exclusive than an M3 even if we didn't get spun the "limited edition" line.)
I reckon you'll struggle with 2/5 of your list.
Though when the M3 V8 comes out next year the RS4 will take a big hit but so too will the old RS6 when the new one comes out. Thats the problem with buying cars something better always comes along.
Just wait and see whats around next year, there may even be another fast four seat that takes your fancy.

Can't see the RS4 losing another 15 approx in the next 12 months. What may help keep up RS4 prices is that they stop building them this year. I agree with Mike 2/5 is possible. Anyway why would he want to buy a B7 RS4 when he can get the supreme and thoroughly tunable B5 RS4 for less and with the money saved he can get it to Stage VII producing a zillion bhp.

I agree, this is the first car I have bought and a year on not bored of, this is after, 911, M3's m5 etc etc

It's a great car, only thing that may tempt me next year is the v8 M3, lets wait and see. Apparently it will be 412 BHP, so it will be spot on performance wise with the RS4.

Can you actually still order new RS4's..?

huntingdon audi have a new rs4 saloon coming (in black) in a few weeks time...so probably still some new ones around...
