2nd mortgage for a service!!

Well, for those of you that know me, I think I have the highest mileage RS4 about 34,500 today (and thats with 2 months off the road) purchased the 20th April 2006 - so I tend to find quirks before many...

Anyway, into the dealer for the 30,000 (oil change) service. Its the little one - you know, kick the tyres, change the oil and a couple for filters and....£424.82 later. Yeah... what a rip off!!!

Querying the bill, its ONLY £99 +VAT (£116) per hour for the work!!

Whats more, here are the best bits...

No TMC upgrade - the dealer didn't have any DVD's despite me asking them 2 weeks before

A 12 mile test drive - I assume that's amust for an oil change

Washer fluid refilled (it ran out the day before) - I was charged £3.00 for the fluid - except all that now comes out is clear water!!

The seats were left hard against the dash, with the exception of the drivers seat which must have had Arnold Schwartzzenegger (spelling) in it.

The 'service assistant' took 10 mins to bring the car out to the front after the service - becasue she had no idea how to start the car?

They had the cheek to say on the invoice 'free wash and valet'

Oh, and 3 times I had to correct them on the reg number when talking to them ,as they had it incorrect, despite me reading it out phonetically (I am a helicopter pilot, so can do that stuff) and 3 times they 'corrected their system', yet my car reg still apparently starts with an 'R' not a 'B'

That's about it. A very upset Audi customer. Their products are really fantastic, but level of service and rip-off from their dealer network is unbelievable.

PS- I complained - they gave me all my money back. I won't be going back to Milton Keynes in a hurry.

I have had similar experiences in my area too. I have to drive past the two nearest dealers to go to one I am more happy with the service of.

Guys, mods etc, is there anyway we could get a sticky together on this? It's a question/issue that comes up again and again, and is probably the single most important part of ownership. Just perhaps a succint list of the best ones to use and the one to steer clear of?

Bexley Audi seem to be on the ball, but then I have only had an oil change and TMC update ...

Audi Hatfield were superb when sorting my TMC and headlights. I live two hundred yards from my local dealer but travel 20 miles to get to Hatfield. If using them get Cliff to do the work, he takes care of the RS just as I would and also deal with Mark in the service deptartment.

I was thinking of a common "rate the dealer forum". Sound like a good idea?

They completely missed the ball with me...

Asking for a price for a service:
On the phone: "Yes sir it's definitely £360, I'm sure"
In person: "I'll check previous RS6 services, ah.. £800+ sir, yes, £800+, when would you like to book it in?"
I took the car elsewhere.

I don't even bother calling them when asking for quotes now. Do they realise how easy it is to lose customers?

I'm picking-up my new beast in March - no car for six weeks, so cannot wait!

My nearest dealers are southampton/portsmouth/salisbury, but I'd like to know of any decent, reliable and knowledgeable dealers elsewehere in the area (Camberley clearly gets a vote, but as I'm new to Audi, I don't know about the above?).

Hopefully I won't need their services any time soon, but it pays to plan ahead!

I'm this area too, someone says the dealers are all one group around here, and not the best reports?

don't think they get any better further south, Walton on thames were totally useless as well as being complete liars about work required or carried out. Avoid

Whoah... Dear Mods, can we consolidate and move to the ownership forum or something?
