RS4 Paintwork

Just given my Black RS4 a good clean up after the dirt, snow and salt it has been subjected to over the last few weeks and must admit the paintwork is looking great. While waxing the car I couldn't find any paint defects on the car anywhere. Being black this normally shows up any tiny mark but this is better than any BMW, Mercedes I've had before.

RS is going into Audi Hatfield tomorrow for the headlights to be adjusted, too low and to also have the TMC retrofit at last !!!. Not sure if I should change the oil and filter at the same time - car has done 2,200 miles. Seems to be a few here thinking of doing this at the same sort of mileage but wondering if that would mess up the service intervals on the service indicator? How will the computer sort this out when judging the condition of the oil? Help not too sure on this subject.

Anyway here is pic of car for you to enjoy now it is nicely waxed.

I always think these wheels look especially good when really clean like that.

Not a single flaw in my car's (Mugello) paintwork either.

The line through my TMC has now disappeared and all seems to be working fine. The Audi centre at Hatfield is superb, both Mark in service and Cliff the master technician were very helpful. I would recommend anybody in the Herts area to use them. They even put my car in a safe area of the car park so it didn't get scratched or dented.

They suggested it was a waste of my money changing my oil at such low mileage even though they would love to take it off me. They say the oil is that good now and wouldn't bother worrying about it until the service indicator comes up. I still think I'll change it around 5-6,000 miles.

Mine's gone in today at 2500miles and 2months old. Oil and filter change is the reason but will also get the updated dvd and the RS4 welcome page rather than MMI.

Jezzer, how much notice did they need to do the TMC software?

I'm thinking of popping down there Saturday?

Cheers,

Steve

TMC upgrade actually takes about 15mins to complete, not sure how much notice they need, should just be a case of dumping the CD in and checking periodically.

@Hatfield: I work at T-Mobile in Hatfield but live in Swindon, I have been reluctant to goto any dealer apart from the Audi dealers in Tetbury (my mate is service manager) and Swindon as I know them (MRC not included as they are not dealers). If Hatfield can be recommedned, I may try them.

There was a big confusion over the exact part number of the 2007 disc for the A4s to fix the TMC. At first the dealer said that there was a back order on these and it would be a few weeks before they could get one. They were under this impression as this was the case for the A8s.

Anyway got them to talk to Tom Peterkin, Customer Services Manager at Milton Keynes HQ and he organised this and got one to them in a couple of days. It took Cliff the master tech. maybe half an hour in all to complete the work, just a matter of putting in a new disc and waiting for it to load. If you speak to either Heather or Mark in the service dept. they know all about the TMC upgrade and will be able to sort out for you really quickly. I'm not sure if the discs are in stock or they have to order them as required. The upgrade is totally free including the labour.

If you show concern about your car whilst in their care they will do the utmost to accomadate you, they even appraise your car before they touch it so there are no arguments over any scratches, dents or wheel kerbing. They are really good, better than anything I have experienced before, hope you have the same experience.

Rob I notice in your signature that you have 19" Bimoto's fitted to your S4. Just wondered what you thought of these, where did you get them from, how much and would they fit the RS4 B7? Any pics also. I am finding it hard to live with the chrome effect paint on the 19" RS4 alloys. It seems to me they are scratching really easily and are proving hard to live with.

Hitchin is my local dealer, so I may pop to Hatfield and see whats what.

However, seeing as the side of my car is smashed in, they need not worry about the condition of it too much at the moment!!
