Rattling rear windows

Is this a common problem. I took the car out over our typically bump B roads yesterday. As usual impressed by everything but couldn't help noticing that the rear windows or something were rattling when I went over the more high frequency bumps. Is this normal?

Have the same problem Audi took it apart and replaced all the seals. But still does it. Theve checked to see if anything is loose but still can't get to the bottom off it.

Hi,
New to the forum, but I too have the same itermittent rattle from what sounds like a rear window carrier. Needless to say when the car was booked in for sme other warranty work it wouldn't make nay noise enroute so I didn't get it fixed.
Otherwise my RS4 Avant is just perfect!

Do Quattro do something to the rear doors to lighten them or something as a colleague of mine has an S4 with its rock hard ride and he doesn't have this problem.

Mine is going in for the third time for something rattling at the back (n/s) later this week.
I'm fed up because there are rattles from all over the car. The (replaced) arm rest is creaking as did the first one.

It's my second Audi and the first one suffered rattles. I don't know where Audi get their bullet proof reputation from because based on my experience, it's undeserved. I'm thinking of selling the car purely because after a few thousand miles Audi's build quality stinks and the car rattles! Not impressive for a £50K motor!

mjh123 have you looked at the back seats for rattles? With them being split/fold seats they sometimes rattle or squeak there.

Yes, Audi have had these out twice, third time I assume this week when it goes back in.

This might be relevant but I had the same problem on my RS6+. One of the mechanics told me that it is a small plastic wheel that needs replacing. They did and no more rattle.

Had the same probem with mine from the day I picked it up, to the day it went. Dealer tried to fix it twice, no joy. Even told that the seals might be sticky and to put some WD40 on the rubber :audibash:

Well I got it back from the stealers, all greased up on the rear windows. Drove on the A26 back from Lewes last night and it sounded like I was in a badly build Maser convertible. SO many squeaks and rattles from every window.
Really really unimpressed.

mike, pop to me sometime and you can hear mine and then maybe we can take a spin with your ear in the back so you can pin point the problem on your car.

One area you might like to explore and was an issue with all of my previous Avants (S4, A4), is where the luggage blind spigots lock into the notches on the left and right close to back door pillar' These can become noisily annoying especially if you've used any cleaning products on them. As you drive the rigid handle flap of the blind can oscillate to produce a 'rattle' type of noise. I curred my problem with a wrap of 'self amalgamating tape' or suitable 'Hellermann rubber sleeve' place over each of the blinds spigots.
The door seals can also rattle / squeak and I now lightly apply 'Halfords - rubber and Nylon lubricant' to all of the rubber parts around all doors once every three months or there abouts. Seems to work for me.
