Am I being optimistc or naive?
My May 06 RS4 with Tech pack and 2900 miles, the dealer has just offered me £42500 in part ex. Thats £10K in eight months, blimey! Is the dealer being greedy or is that what I should expect? Thoughts welcome.

I stand to be corrected but I think the prices are falling on these cars with the arrival of the new batch Audi releasing early next year..and of course the new M3.

IMHO That is a mixture of the market being quiet and the dealer being greedy...

If anyone can do me a recaro seat RS4 (any body shape) for that price then drop me an e-mail.

Really don't want the aggrevation of selling it privately unless it was through a member on here or a referal from someone I knew.
Mind you the S6 avant I'm looking at has taken a similar hit in the same amount of time. Guess I'll probably have to bite the bullet, but not without a small renegotiation hopefully.

Think that you are being taken to the cleaners! I just got a similar amount on my March 06 20,000 miles Saloon... Just look on Auto trader and see what they are being sold for - the garage should make about 2K.

Watch yourself in the S6 (see link) and get a massive discount on the sticker price (even if that is already at £47-49k).

Maybe they are reluctant to hand over cash and have cars sat in stock while nobody has money to buy them this near to xmas/new year etc.
Why are you selling after such a short amount of time?

I just part ex'd my old 06 RS4 (ex dealer demo that I bought to tide me over while waiting for a fully spec'd new car) for my new RS4 and got £48,500 for it... and it wasnt that highly spec'd and had only done 11,000 miles. So, I'd say the dealer is being greedy...

The dilema is the RS4 has to go, too much negative attention, (people trying to break in to get the keys, followed twice) and I need to change to a load lugger. Choices, A6 avant, BMW 5 series touring, won't buy a Merc because they're crap (sales and especially service). Still want a bit of poke underneath my right foot and the S6 does have that. Debadged the S6 is fairly innocuous so it won't attract the same attention hopefully. Having driven one, being aware the "all knowing" Clarkson doesn't like them, I was looking for the faults. Yes the ride is hard, but no more so than the RS4, steering is much lighter and perhaps lacking in feedback, but I'm prepared to live with that. It has it's niggles, and it's not an RS4 but it ticks the boxes for me at the moment.
Dealer went to £45K part ex as well so not too bad.

Does that mean you have ordered one then?

£45k is what your RS4 is worth as an outright sale into the trade today. As a part ex it might be a little more if the car you are looking at has some margin to go at.

What's the bottom line price for an S6 Avant?
