A few problems with RS4 Avant

Post by simple1 » Fri Nov 17, 2006 6:50 pm

Starting to have a few problems with my car at 5000 miles.
Headlights and fog lights are full of condensation and Audi are not going to replace them as they claim it is from the excessive heat from lights.....strange that, never had the fog lights on............
Interior of car steams up very quickly, especially in the rear when car is parked. Ten minutes after parking, I returned to the car and took further five minutes for system to clear windows, no water in car, carpets are dry and no coolant leaks.
Tyre pressure monitor is flagging up low pressure warnings even though the tyres are set to recommended pressures. Issue with that is on chart in door shut, the pressures are 2.4 rear and 2.6 front, or 38 and 41 psi. When plugged into Vag Com, it claims tyres are over inflated and locks up DIS so you cant reset tyre warning.....

Anybody else having any of these problems?

Yes, noticed both front headlights and o/s/r light cluster have condensation appearing on my Avant. Going to dealer next week for them to look at. What was their answer Simon when you said you haven't used the foglights?

A blank expresion.......... Only reason you get condensation in something is due to water ingress......... I know we have had heavy rain the last few days, and my car was parked up, but this is not acceptable, the headlights will quickly discolour with moisture in them, same for fog or rear lights....

Definitely not acceptable. I will say some of the customer service at certain garages is shocking.

I have been treated very well by Audi dealers customer services over the years and am very happy with the level of service, albeit they have openly struggled on some occasions with my car, but quite simply they are not established to be able to offer supercar territory customer service. Could you imagine your local Audi dealer servicing an R8!? If I had the £'s for something like that (which I quite simply do not), there is no way on this earth I would ever dare take a car of that value to my local Audi dealership.

Read pages 23 and 24 of the RS4 brochure.

It clearly says FULL mechanical and electrical warranty..

.. it goes on too say unmatched by any other major manufacturer ..

Also for current owners, do you actually receive this level of care, OR are Audi all bull ?

Have to say that my local dealer is far better than any other I have used before, naming no names......AGNEWS Belfast... :bash: :bash: :<beep>_you: Audi Poole.....
Milhouse go out of their way to get things resolved asap and without issue. This apparently, is a directive from Audi Uk, needless to say, I shall be giving them a call Monday morning to get some new lights fitted......

according to the brochure ..

car washed, courtesy car, personal service, all work by a named Audi tech etc etc ... but I doubt the dealers read this.

I would ask to speak to him/her and then show the brochure and then name and shame with Audi UK ... of course there is always the trades description act...

.... have a read and then watch the dealer go bright red

Looked at my car this morning and all the condensation that was there has now gone. It has been parked in the garage all week so will keep an I on it especially after cleaning this morning

None of those yet, but it's in tomorrow for rough running on warm-up (I see Evo's car is now doing this), b@stard sticky clutch and the ever annoying speed-variable and noisey interior ventilation.

Thinking about it, one of the headlamps was steamed up the other day

Have a chat with the 'named' technician and find out if there is an ECU update - thanks

There was an update for software, solved the rough running and dropping off a cylinder complaint that had been mentioned by EVO, it seems it only affected earlier saloons and that the first Avants came through with this upgrade anyway, was related to the fouling of plugs I believe. Mine didn't have to be changed after PDi and have given no bother.

I think Evo have a different issue now, there was the one with the rough running after "a trip to the red line" and now one during the warm-up cycle.

Anyone know if the Evo guys use this forum? Would be handy if they did as they must have one of the highest mileage/used cars :D

When's yours back in Simon?
