Just got my demo in South Africa for US $78K about the same price as new, problem is the waiting list is 6-9 months here, depending on options. Generally used cars are 10% more than new, due to demand. I have inquired a lot about performance upgrades, nothing is available from Audi so as not to affect warranty. There is talk of magnaflow exhausts & K&N filters but nothing I can confirm. I get this strange look when I ask about performance upgrades - wonder why???

A company called Milltek manufacture a new exhaust system and hi flow sports cats for the RS4. Had the exhaust fitted for a while it sounds great and goes great. Just this week had the cats changed had it on the rolling road before and after. There was a 24bhp and 20ft/lb torque increase! Somebody on this forum has gone to Ray West tuning and had his re mapped!

there is hardly a waiting list here at all, the car is an on demand item as not many people can buy them.

The price of European cars in Australia is a joke (read expensive). This is due to the compound effect of 4 things:
1) Shipping (about A$5k)
2) Import tax on cars above A$50k (protectionism)
3) GST
4) Audi is positioned as a luxury brand and manages to extract a premium

All in all, a car that retails for the equivalent of A$125k in Berlin ends up costing A$180 in Edgecliff. What a rip off. :x

Will buy one here (retails for A$140) 6 months before moving back to Sydney - apparently won't have to pay much if car is imported as a moving good.

Good day, Mirkop. I just ordered mine last week and won't get it til Feb/Mar 2007. Is yours a factory order one? 2 months waiting only? That's really good. I can't wait for mine. By the way, nice choice of vehicle! :D

By the way, are you in Sydney? I am. Which dealer did you get yours from?

unfortunatly mine is not factory ordered, But luckily i found one that i wanted in black with sunroof, there wasnt any other options that i could pick, i got a friend to get one for me wholesale, which ended up totaling$150k, which is about 30 grand cheaper than retail.

I wont mention which dealer i got it from cause dont wanna get anyone into trouble, but its a sydney dealer.

what did you end up paying for yours if you dont mind me asking?

Hi Mirkop, lucky you. It's good to have friends like that! hehe.

The best I got is $173K, saved $8K which I thought was awesome as dealers won't do any deal with RS4 at the moment. I wanted double glazed windows as well so had to factory order. My little kids scratched film tint too quickly on my current car. It's interesting to know how much the dealer's profit margin is.

I have only ever seen one black RS4 on the road in the city a few weeks ago. Mine will be Phantom black too. Are you getting external paint protection when your car gets to the dealer? Do you think it's worth it? I got quoted $750.

Are you seriously wanting performance upgrade straight away for your RS4? You don't think it's powerful enough stock standard? I know I will be changing the filer to K&N filter but that's all. My X5 V8 sounds very different with K&N filter - more deeper and throatier, everyone thought if I have modified the exhaust! I read a few in US have changed their stock exhaust to Miltek.

There are few guys in Melbourne (on RS6.com forum) with RS4 too but you're the only one I know in Sydney.

By the way, can I ask if you've looked in insurance? the bet I got with max NCB is $2800 with Shannons.

if there is a performance upgrade available for rs4 i will look into it asap, as for k and n filter i wouldnt waste time or money on it, it doesnt really do anything for a already heavily tuned car.
probably will make it worst if anything, the standard tune on the car is with that filter, any chnages to the car including k&n filter will make the engine run richer wasting more fuel than needed for the same performance.

as for paint protection its a waste of money, after a year of driving you can get the whole car buffed for 300bucks.
$750 is a very big price tag for nothing really.

i cant wait to get the car, ive never even see a rs4 in sydney and im on the road every day.

good luck

Try RACV even though you are in Sydney other wise GIO, I like them both as you can nominate the repairer and RACV is very competitive with price. Agree with Mirkop on the paint protection, I got mine professinally polished just after i got it, and will redo every 6 months.

There are not many around as the quota for Oz was around 40.

Anybody know what the world quota is for RS4's - In South Africa we where allocated 170 total (thats it), I did read somewhere that 1,000 units where earmarked for the USA.

Just out of interest a new RS4 is A $109K in RSA.

Mirkop, I think he meant $109K in Republic of South Africa.

Also, thanks for your tip about paint protection. I will give it a miss and get some Blackfire wet diamond wax from the US. I read it's really good DIY sealant/polish and then get a professional detailing once a year.

man, the wait is agonising!

Mirkop, New RS4 in South Africa costs the equivilent of Oz dollars 109,000. (around $77K American) - total allocation for the country is 170 units. As mentioned you certainly have huge premiums on European cars downunder as you all mentioning around $180K new - 35% cheaper in South Africa.
