Alcantara steering wheel question

Post by jmk » Sat Oct 21, 2006 4:43 pm

Hi! I am thinking of getting the alcantara Euro steering wheel for my North American spec RS4 and am curious how those of you who have this wheel like it. Any regrets? Easy to clean? Any comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard they don't stay looking nice that long. Look fantastic when new but after a while the alcantara starts to bobble and starts to make the steering wheel look shabby. Also tends to attract oils from the hands very quickly but this is easy to clean off providing you don't use a foam cleaner otherwise it will attract dirt even faster. I understand most of the M3CSL owners have had their steering wheels replace under warranty because of these problems.

According to Porsche, they are 'easy to clean', for what it's worth...
