A week or two back, there was a cancelled order sitting in the showroom of VW Warrington.

Edit: Did I say'VW'? How strange - I meant Audi, of course. I visit too many showrooms! :)

There was a cancelled order sitting at Audi Stratford but I grabbed that one quick on Sunday. It's Phantom Black with tech pack, phone prep, bucket seats, RS steering wheel and 19s. LOVELY. Collect this Friday will post some pics when I get it.

I'm actually hoping to get mine later than promised! I'm off to Cambodia and Australia from November to January. I've been told that the car will be delivered some time in January, but it sounds as though it may come earlier?...

Don't want it hanging around on a dealerships court!

Thanks to you guys I've located 3 today without trying :D

No deals to be done unfortunately, but physical un-registered cars none the less.

Bloody pre-spec'd cars, wish I could have a mixture of all three then I'd have an ideal spec, beggars can't be choosers though!

Got a hurdle called M5 to get over first, taking one out tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about :P

Cheers again

I think the residuals on the M5 will take a dive compared to the RS4 Avant. Also you don't want to be owning a car with an SMG gearbox. The CSL's SMG gearbox is a nightmare with software problems causing the clutch to slip. BMW have not helped the CSL owners at all. They are dragging the problem out until the cars are out of warranty. There are a few cases of gearbox failure in the M5 so beware.

I had a CSL with clutch problems, but all got sorted with minimum of fuss, just need to know the right dealer. After fix, it was bloody excellent.

Residuals between the two cars are pretty minimal actually, I've been quoted £30k after 2 years for the RS, and £27k after 3 1/4 years for the M5. A 15 month old well specc'd M5 (full leather option etc) is less expensive as a new RS.

The lure of a V10 with a conservative 507BHP is quite big, but I need a car that does everything well so the RS is up there again - I remember saying the same thing about my B5.

I found Mugello, Misano and Phantom cars yesterday, and got offered a spec changable slot for Novemeber delivery.

Decisions, decisions....

What's the feeling on colours and their popularity? Misano looks "right" on the Avant, but Mugello looked completely different. If the dealers have still got these cars then there must be a reason for it.....

Cheers all,

Ben

Hi Ben
I also had a CSL and this was fixed by Murketts, 5,000 miles later the clutch was slipping again. The other thing to consider is the fuel economy of the M5. You are going to need deep pockets and also be patient about stopping every now and again to keep filling up because of the small tank. I think the residuals are going to be wrong on the M5 especially once they get near to three years old and the BMW warranty needs to be paid for. There are too many things to go wrong on this car so this is why I opted for the RS4 avant.

Ah, I didn't do enough miles for the clutch to start playing up again.

My head says RS4 all the way.

What do you honestly think of this?

How can you think of buying an M5 when looking at this. It looks fantastic in Mugello Blue, I have to say it looks better than the black I have bought. What spec does it come with. I managed to get a Tracker Horizon thrown in but no discount on the car.
