Wondered if anyone could give me some advise with regard to running-in the RS4 V8 engine. I have heard that running them in too carefully can lead to the car under performing and not loosening up properly. Obviously don't want to thrash the pants off it as soon as I get it but just want to get the best I can out of the engine. Also can anyone give their opinion on Gap insurance, do I buy it from the dealer at £495 for three years or are there more competitive rates for this elsewhere. The phone has bluetooth and a phone charger bracket attached to the left side of the dash. Can this be taken off without leaving holes in the dash, just looks awful in my opinion.

Jez, I ran mine in quite quickly. Up to 6,500 rpm until 400 miles and then up to 7,200 rpm until about 800 miles. I noticed after this the rev limiter cuts in at 8050 and not the suggested 8250rpm. This is still the case after 6000 miles.
I have always ran my cars in quickly and they have always performed well.
Mine also has the phone cradle which I don't mind.

@Jezzer Have a look at the Oil thread re running in and oil consumption.
