Mines developed the Clutch Issue

Post by DuncanMac » Wed Aug 23, 2006 8:58 am

After 2600 miles mines developed the clutch issue.... Gets a bit sticky and changing from first to second is an absolute nightmare sometimes. Car can be described as lurching etc when engaging....

If anyone can let me know the exact problem or part so I can let the service guys at Maidstone know.

Also going to get the bluetooth sorted which hasnt worked since the day it was delivered!

Try this, seems to be more and more common.

Don't be so sure, now I have started to push mine on, I notice the same thing, but have put it down to ESP kicking in as it will only do it when changing from 1st to 2nd under hard/full load.....usually too busy watching the road to see if the ESP light is flashing though

Mine does it the same simple1, its bloody annoying when you are hard on the gas and it stops for a second then decides to kick in again!
I havent noticed any lights flashing on the dash when doing it though. I put it down to the electronics limiting the engine grunt going to the gear box!???? Could be talking utter bo##*** though!

It did it in the S4 as well

Yup mine does that too... Definanetly an esp issue! Mine did it in second going over a speed hump the other day doing about 10mph! Bloody annoying.

This is not an ESP issue, I have never seen this in my car and frankly ESP has NEVER come on in the 2300 miles I've driven my car, in any gear at any speed.

If you're seeing ESP at these speeds when driving in relatively straight lines and/or on normally paved roads, something is wrong.

Def ESP.. the light came on! I think it was mainly due to being a stupidly high speed hump... one of those ones which you hit and then drop off literally! As the back axle came off it dropped quite hard where the fronts were still powering ahead. Im guessing that caused it. But the esp light was flashing like a fairy light!

I was referring to the people who claimed ESP when no light came on.

can induce the light to come on at any time, leaving wet english roundabouts is a sure bet

I had the clutch problem and have had the pipe replaced - works like a treat now. Before I was having the odd problem with the clutch feeling incredibly stiff but more frequently the clutch peddle, and hence engaging, taking an age and this caught me out a couple of times with some nasty over-revs.

I have also noticed the 2nd gear power absence and can't remember whether it was on this forum or rs6 forum that there was a discussion about the ASR setting of ESP. I've always poo poo'd the people who said it was ESP cutting in because I've never seen the ESP light when I've felt this power absence then surge but I then tried turning off the ASR (first stage of ESP with a single push rather than 3 second full off) and did a standing start - pefect start this time and I actually noticed the wheels squeel a little which I've never heard with the ESP fully on. I tired a second standing start with the ASR back on and got the 2nd gear lurch.

So, I now beleive the 2nd gear power absence/surge is related to the ASR.

My wife says she knows to brace herself now when she sees me reach for the ESP button at the lights :-)

cheers,
- Dean

Your clutch issue!!

Post by PHB7RS4 » Tue Aug 29, 2006 2:30 pm

My dealership received a bigger hydraulic line for the clutch, Audi has finally agreed that the original line is not big enough, and was installed improperly. After getting mine replaced my clutch is engaging oh so sweet, I feel like I am driving a completely different vehicle now.

Good luck to you and hope Audi sends you the right part!!
