Miltek Exhaust fitted!

Picked my car up from Kim at QS tuning in Haywards heath Friday evening after having the new Miltek exhaust fitted.

Car sounds awesome much more of that V8 burble and with a slight crackle and pop when you lift off the throttle which was something I wasn't expecting. Its gained (claimed) about 8 to 10 BHP more, Ididn't notice myself although I was offered a pre and after rolling road test on the house (first 3 customers, I was 3rd). I declined as the car has done less than a thousand miles and I am still running in.

Ill take some pictures as there are slight differences between the Miltek and factory oval.

How is it own a cruise? Is there any droning in the car?
I am thinking of getting one of these when my car arrives in a couple of weeks time, but I don't want to lose any refinement.

The cabin noise has not been increased at all, thats one thing I checked on prior to ordering, Other than engine note which is obviously rather nice on the ears. I had a fairly long motorway trip in 6th gear and on low revs the engine was it normal silent self. Then once i got of tyhe otorway (car fully warmed up by now) I played with the gears a bit and discovered (as above) some nice sounds on over run and the ability to turn a few head at the bus stop with out to much wellie.

So all in all...Happy.

Sutters, I too have been thinking about the Milltek but I would love to hear it before going ahead. Where abouts are you?

Me to!! I've heard a very short video clip that was posted on here but it's not like the real thing.

I've been watching this with puzzlement.

As you can see, I'm not an RS4 owner, but I witnessed the car at the RS246 Xmas Trackday last year, and the car sounded absolutely awesome.

I've seen (and heard) a few on the road since...same effect :kissmyrings:

No doubt the Miltek give it just that little extra, but for me the stock exhaust gives out a lovely purr at lower revs...and a glorious growl at higher revs...can't fault it...just my 2p.

CliveH the sound track you heard on track would have been the car on full chat with the Sports buton in operation (exhaust valves open). The new exhaust sounds like that all the time as there are no exhaust valves to restict it. The S button works as normal as it activates a slightly different Map to increase power, so nett nett I am getting more power (claimed 8-10 BHP) with both the S button on and off.

I don't have to floor it nor activate the S button to get it to really Purrrrr now...so thats got to be a winner fuel wise to!

I am in Kent.

Isn't the reason that Audi gave the RS4 the exhaust valves because the car wouldn't have passed noise emission standards without them?! In other words, aren't you making your car illegal by increasing the (standard) exhaust noise levels?

Wouldn't it be overall cheaper just to drive around with the S button on all the time if you really want to impress grannies at bus stops? ;)

Partly true if you lived in switzerland re above. You can't be suggesting that Audi would give you an S button that when pressed would make you illegally loud?

By having the S button down permenatly I would be burning more fuel than necessary.

Taken from other thread regarding the Miltek exhaust upgrade ...

"the bore was only slightly bigger in front of the back box but significantly larger in the back box. It sounded very nice outside the car with a better tone than the OE system and with no significant difference in the car. They would expect a 10bhp or so increase in power. He confirmed it would not affect the warranty as it has been approved by Audi.
The only reason the valves are there are to meet the EU drive-by sound regulations - so unless you live in Switzerland or have very grumpy neighbours, I can't see why you would want the system with the valves."

Evening All,

The latest EVO mag talks about the Miltek exhaust in their piece on the RS4 long-term car. The journo promises more info in next month's mag - be interesting to see what they make of it.
