TMC feature on SatNav

Post by Trango » Thu Jul 06, 2006 12:31 pm

Does anyone have a functioning TMC feature on their satnav? (the one that warns you of traffic jams etc). Apparently the RS4 was shipped without the software for that and an update will be avail. at some point??

See, I think is the last page in the latest Audi magazine talking all about TMC and potential future upgrades requiring a likely software upgradeto some variants.
When this will be available, it doesn't say, although talks about TMC being currently available on A6/A8 variants built after a certain date (Nov '05 off the top of my head)
Would be helpful.
Most of my driving is commuting too and from work so rarely use the Sat Nav but got caught up in roadworks on the southbound M1 the other week around Junc 8/9/10, pain in the a*se!

This is buggin' me too. See other thread in electrical section. Are enough people bothered to send customer services an synchronised email? Maybe a full inbox one sunny morning would let them know we are annoyed?

I've written to Audi customer services, I've spoken to them at length and I can 100% confirm that they do not give a TOSS. :audibash:

My advice is don't waste your time or effort. If they want to do it they will and nothing you say will ever influence them - they totally treat their customers with contempt.

Bitter? me?........ No just really pissed off. I think it is totally unacceptable to buy a £55K + car on which something doesn't work - it even worked on ALL three of my RS4 B5s that I had over a number of years - so from this point of view the B7 is a retrograde step.

This is such a weird one... see mine works occasionally. I have a B7. Works in *some* places in kent. TMC randomly lights up and the line dissapears.

arhhhh thats what that annoying thing with a cross thru it is then? Since it doesn't work can it be taken off the display? Nothing worse than looking at something that doesn't and never will work! Bit like rubbing your nose in it every time you drive.

Obviously picking up signal from France then, Tmc wont work in the UK at present, something to do with Audi 'forgetting' to pay their subscription to what ever authority to have access. By all accounts, the Tmc works well in Europe.... but then we are in the uk and proven fact that our friends at Audi treat us high value customers as dirt in most cases. Rest assured that if mine does not work, (which it won't) I will get slightly pi**ed off with dealer and make them fix it...........

I'd like it to work on my RS6 too, please. I have to dissagree that 50-100 emails or so all arriving in a senior individuals Inbox would make no more impact than one or two people ringing or writing in. If yoiu get the right name/email address in the first place I would have thought a mass dump on a monday morning  would at least make the point strongly.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Right thats a good idea. if some one gets a few offical names email addresses lets just start the flood.

A postal address to, so it can be backed up with a letter may get things moving quicker.

count me in - I'll phone, email and write. If its within a 100 miles I'll even go & knock on the door. Should we plan for, say, Monday 17th July?

Phone Audi, find out the full name of the Customer service manager and then e-mail to firstname.surname@audi.co.uk......... am a little out of touch with who is who at present, not too difficult to find out though..........Audi always use this email address format as Len Hunt and David Ingram (who have both moved on) found out to their annoyance when the B5 wheel saga erupted...
