DSG coming for 2007?!

Hi All,
Just been advised that DSG will be avasilable to all 2007 RS4's by senior staff at Audi HQ Germany. The NEW DSG system in the RS4 will be much slicker and faster and will reduce 0-60 time by half a second. Cant wait and i will definately want to order a 2007 model. Any comments feel free and i can get you more unofficial feedback from Germany.!!!

Total bollox............ Audi would not be releasing this type of info now, especially after filling their boots with orders, the tidal wave of cancelled orders would be too much to bare. I had this conversation this morning with Sales Manager at local Audi dealership, as far as the info coming out of official chanels goes, Audi have not yet developed a DSG box to fit longditudanal engines which is small enough to fit RS4 sized cars. Buggatti box is too big and heavy to be used.... quote unquote.....

I'd heard that the next Gen DSG was to be ready by 2008, using a development of the Porsche version (the're all made by a 3rd party anyway)
Now what I can't remember is if Porsches fit longitudinally or horizontally. but I guess the latter.
So depending on which it may be true as Porsche are due to release the DSG by the end of the year (or so the dealers think but no-ones been told for sure)

No plans for DSG in B7-RS4, developement team have already moved onto new project. Low demand for DSG, so put on back burner.

That's great news (in a sense) as I would have loved to have had the DSG box on my RS4. If it was to come in 2007 I'd have put my car for sale instantly and re-ordered the 2007 model. As it is, it's a keeper!

Riiiiiiiiiiiggggghhhhtttt. 0.5 secs faster, but the DSG surely weighs more than a regular gearbox. 0-60 only requires 2 shifts, surely the time shaved off by DSG on the shifts will be negated by the added weight?

I don't know about 0-60, but DSG more than makes up for any added weight. DSG can shift in 2/10ths of a second, faster than any human possibly could ever achieve.
Around a track (where it matters, who buys an RS4 for drag runs anyway?) DSG is a beater of the MT, whether we like it or not (as purists).
As far as 0-60, I would still say DSG will win, because there is no time wasted getting in to first/launching and the 2nd shift is istant.
And yes, it isn't going to be on this car, so its a moot issue.
