Picked up yesterday.
Picked up yesterday.
Drove my new Mugello south yesrterday from J Fox Nottingham. Very impressed with the car indeed. After 300 miles of motorway driving the car felt superb. Obviously I will get a couple of thousand miles under my belt before I explore deeper in the rev range. The sound is just something else..full on Muscle car!
One reservation I have is that the Sports seats I ordered became very uncomfortable after two hours of driving. I am certainly not a fatso so heaven know how others will get on (no offence intended). I at a drop of a hat would swap mine for the recaros even after such short ownership.

RE: Picked up yesterday.
I'm really starting to worry about the seats now. I Was after an extended test drive because of it. But before i had chance the car went confirmed alot earlier than i expected. So i couldnt change them even if i wanted. I did have two test drives. The first time the seats were very tight and no matter how much i tried to adjust them they pinched me like crazy. So i thought i would explore it more on the second test. However i got into the seats and they wernt tight at all. So either the bolsters had broke and were wedged open or someone smarter than me figured out how to adjust them properly.
RS4 (B7) Tech pack. SS+. Auto boot. Cool Box.

My advice is don't panic
Reading all the comments made prior to picking my RS4 up in April made me feel I hade made a bad decision with the bucket seats. Even when I had a seat in a demo at the dealers in March I wasn't sure I hade made the right decision. BUT nearly 2 months with the car and they are great. Most of my journeys are too and from work (40 mins each way) but 2 long w/e trips of > 1hr 30mins were no problem. Can adjust tightness of fit with buttons on R forward side of drivers seat and kept fully open are OK
Sport button makes them tighter but not uncomfortable.
PS I'm 6ft 1 and 13 stone and I fit just fine PLUS they look a hell of a lot better than Recaros

This seems like a common complaint then?
I have to say when I sat behind the wheel in the show room it all felt fine, may be the show car had had so many butts in it of all shapes and sizes that the side bolsters had given a little Or may be I was just thinking I simply must buy one and didn't notice the nut cracker effect!
I think that my lack of test drive wouldn't have made much difference really, the only way I'd have changed my different decision on the seats would have been if I'd sat in the car with the Recaros in it in the first place. I may be wrong but I think all the early show cars that were in Audi dealerships were decked out with the RS4 Sports seats?

thats true, Audi obviously presumed just about everyone would go for the buckets, so few or no demos had recaros. A bit like an 18inch wheel option. However they seemed to have ballsed up (no pun intended) slightly in not making them comfortable for a lot of people. Amazing really when they do all that testing. Thing is the buckets were OTT for me anyway and the recaros not sporty enough by the look of the pics I've seen. One of the best things about RS4 B5 and RS6 is the seats - they should have stayed with those.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

The recaros are the same as in the S4 saloon and avant. Dealers should really make people properly sit in an RS4 and an S4 before confirming orders. From what I am hearing more and more cars are being ordered with the recaros now that the buckets are there to try. FWIW, does anyone know the weight penalty of the recaros given that come with electric operation and side airbags?
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.
I've had my RS4 with buckets for a week now and the seats are fab. I'm 6' 2", pushing 15.5 stones and the seats are a must have. Getting in is part of the ownership experience as you have to almost jump in, but it's soon acquired, and once you are in, it really is superb. Adjustments are plentiful and comfort not really a problem.
The feeling of snugness around the thighs, buttocks and shoulders is great. The superb steering wheel then just falls to hand, with just that right amount of lateral shoulder support. You absolutely MUST have the buckets!
