Are you indeed saying that we are in fact paying for something that is already fitted on the car. So if not specced they remove it?
This really annoys me about Audi, they produce a fantastic car and the charge the earth for ridiculous extras.
IMO tech pack should be standard on a 50k car and all things like auto dimming mirror, adaptive lights etc....

No.. what I am saying is, the system is installed in every car from the kick off, its an integral part of the wiring loom. If not specced, it wont work. Not sure how they prime the thing at manufacture, its probably a case of leaving a wire off.Contigo wrote:Are you indeed saying that we are in fact paying for something that is already fitted on the car. I was also under the impression that the Tracker is fitted at the dealership once the car is in the UK by a approved Tracker engineer.stenning wrote:i thought a tracker was fitted by the dealer?
Also the RS4 exclusive mats are ordered as a dealer item and dont always come with the car, i.e. separate parcel via parts network.

I think you might want to check your reliable source as I've just checked on the Tracker Echo PDF and the general Tracker product PDFs off the Tracker web site and they all state the following :simple1 wrote:Deffo not fitted post construction, as it was an item on the options list, it is fitted during construction. And only comes as Horizon level so I am reliable informed..........
Note1. Installation at TRACKER’s premises will take place at any of our nationwide approved centres. Installation “at suitable customer premises” requires off road under cover facilities.
Audi may install the base hardware in advance in Germany and then have the UK agent commission and activate the system, but according to Tracker, any of their systems can be installed into a vehicle new or old as long as it has suitable locations for the transponders.

You pay tracker the subscription and they activate your account and the unit inside your car I suppose.
I stated that Audi MAY install the base hardware, but I believe all current Tracker systems are fitted to most Audi's at the dealers prior to you collecting your car by a Tracker techie. And I’ve witnessed it for myself.
I don’t understand why it's in the options list unless it's to do with the programming of the cars 'brain'?????
Is there something different with the B7 RS4 systems that require the Tracker hardware to be fitted at the factory?????
Maybe someone from Audi could advise????
