Sports suspension, yes or no?

Post by fishface » Wed Apr 19, 2006 7:23 pm

Hi guys

I may still have time to change the spec on my car. I'm thinking about the sports suspension. The standard car rides very smoothly and I would take a little less smoothness if it improved the handling.

Has anyone driven the RS4 with ss?

Has Audi ever offered ss with previous RS cars and if so were they an improvement?

Thanks

Not to sure about B7, but B5 was not as well behaved with GMBH suspension according to reports I heard, various comments were made about wheel size affecting ride quality too..

I have the standard suspension and I drive it pretty hard and the set up is fantastic.I would think the SS PLUS would be to hard for our roads in the uk.IMO

I checked last week my B7 (standard suspension) on road and i think that its enough. I had TT 3.2 DSG with ss and it was to hard for my back. In my opinion its impossible enjoy this kind of suspension in B7.

I've gone for Sports Suspension...For a couple of reasons 1 i intend to take it on the track and 2 Another option to appeal to a potential buyer when it comes to selling.

hi all...
this very topic has been debated over at www.rs6.com with some interesting comments and useful in depth analysis. read it all as one interesting thing is that the author of the original debate did swing from one opinion against having the SS set up to infact ordering it.

Ive driven the RS4 without it and it felt very good...however, having read this thread Im tempted to order the SS on my Avant...enjoy

I've spec'ed my Avant with SS. I don't intend to track it, but I want the optimum set-up plus it'll look the absolute nuts sitting 10mm lower. it doesn't sound much but it really does make a big visual difference. I'm also sure that it'll appeal to more people come resale time.

Everyone who has spec'ed it so far seems to love it, but it is a leap of faith as there are no independant test reports available yet and the info from Audi is v. limited.

The debate on RS6.com gives me confidence that I've made the right choice. I'm sure I won't regret it.

After the interesting info/debate on R6.com I think I'll stay with the standard set up. If I get bored with the car I'll retrofit stiffer springs later.

Many thanks for all your help
