Build week 20-Can't change seats???

Post by J.A.G » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:56 pm

Hi all, I've been looking at this forum for a while now and finally decided to join.

My dad's ordered the RS4 to replace his 996 :D : Sprint blue, 19's, tech pack and some other stuff, but the main problem is that he opted for the buckets. He placed the order at the start of January having not tested the car and went for the buckets mainly on the basis that they do look rather spiffing. We had the test drive about a month ago and he decided to stick with them.

However, having read all the posts on here about wear and tear and them being tight fitting, he really wants to change to the recaros. Now this is the bit that I can't het my head around.

A couple of weeks ago the dealer tells us that there's gonna be a 2 week delay, build week 17 has now moved to 20  (isn't that 3???). My dad phoned the dealer today to ask about changing the seats, and his answer, not possible!

Now I don't build cars for a living, at least not audi's, but common sense tells me that surely, even a beast such as the rs4 wouldn't spend longer than 8 weeks in the production line. And am I wrong in thinking that the seats and most of the trim are probably one of the last things to go in?

So can someone please tell me if this is true, and that in this stage in the process there is no possibility of changing the spec.

Many thanks,
James

Just say you don't want the car and see what happens. If they don't budge then ask for a car for autumn delivery instead. Week 20 is under four weeks away so they are not being unreasonable but its worth trying it on.

Otherwise try and pre-sell the car for list and still go for an autumn car. I wouldn't go for the buckets as I found the base too tight but you've now got the time to really try them in a demo car and decide if they are right for you.
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.

Cheers, sounds like an idea.

are you sure week 20 is less than 4 weeks away, I thought the build week was the week in the year i.e. week 20 would be the start of june and we are now in week 14 or 15.

Did they start production before 2006 then??

Thanks again.

We are currently in the 16th week of 2006. Just count them on a calendar!!!!!

Week 20 is in mid May.

The Audi build weeks aren't always inline with the calendar, but they within +/- 1.

Sorted, so with build week 20 how much longer will we have to wait (roughly) for delivery?

2-3 weeks? Less would be nice.

Mine is also Week 20 build, I was contemplating changing colour but I can't, I would have to cancel and reorder!
