169 MPH (obviously on a private rd)!!

Post by djcevo » Thu Apr 06, 2006 1:45 pm

Had car on the limiter last nite, 6900 revs and showing 169/170 on the clock but when worked back against the rpm, works out at 24.2 per 1000rpm = 166.98 mph.

Did a standing start to the limiter i.e 166.98mph in 31 secs, was quicker than I thought!!!!

Already made enquiries, will know in about 5/6 weeks. The way it got to 167 was indicate that 180/185 would be possible.

I have not got one and am still awaiting a test drive but I thought that the car was capable of redlining in 6th? = 200MPH (perhaps +)

200 mph on 420ps is asking a lot I reckon, but tremendous if true.

Rob, i could be wrong, but i'd have thought the limiter would be in 6th. red line in 5th might be a different story though hehehehehehehe. what's the final ratio in 5th.... might be a way round the "problem" ??

also, i agree with David, i think 200 might be pushing it unless its slippery as an eel. that said, an M5 does >200 on 500bhp, and you need a whole world of bhp up at that speed for each mph. my guts say low 190s as a max.

Although this sounds impressive at first, I'm quite disappointed at the overall time it takes to do this. If we think about the 0-100 mph time being approx 10.5s or so (if I remember correctly), it takes over 20 seconds from there to get another 67 mph on the clock...I'd have expected it to be a bit quicker.

The only way to judge if its disappointing or not is to compare it to other cars ie M5/M3/AMG/Porker etc. :)

I think KIm`s information might be wrong but not having ago as my info could be wrong too ;)

I emailed quattro GmbH who stated that they will be doing a speed limiter package from about build week 22 onwards If I recall correctly (see speed limiter post) and that it will cose about 2000 euros, and raise the limiter to 175mph approx.

i think you will find as time goes on many people will be posting the same about these cars, the guy above had 169 mph & i had 178 mph & my eye sight is pretty good. one thing for shore is that audis quote of 155mph is not the case with all of the rs4 v8s. i will check this speed with my sat nav speedo & hope to post short video on website - you tube - if you have not
been there yet then check it out its great. type in rs4 & enjoy
